amiami and othet etailers in japan

Hi everybody,

Never used AmiAmi before, because they don't declare as gift or low value. I want to buy some figma figures, probably making single orders to avoid chances of being hit.

The purchases I want to make are items that are about 30 - 45 $, and shipping of say 10 - 20$. Will I still get hit by duty / tax? Any idea what they charge?

Another Japanese etailer, hobbysearch, also told me they had to mark real value, but can mark it as gift, which should reduce the chances of being hit.

My only real other option is ebay, as amazon has tax, and more expensive.

Could use any feedbacks, thanks in advance.

i have made small orders from amiami a handful of times and did not get hit with additional duty/tax

It depends on the value and if you get a aft of a customs dude. Any values declared over $20 bucks can be duty, but it doesn't always happen, I haven't charged in awhile, sometimes I would get something for 50 bucks and get nothing but then get something for 30 and get stung. Every case is unique.

I just got today my Figma Indiana Jones from AmiAmi and did not get any custom charge.
