View Full Version : DOTM post mortem: what did you get?

Its no secret that there is as much hate for the DOTM line as there is Bumblebees and Sideswipe clogging the pegs all over Canada right now. Still some of us got some toys and I'm curious to see just what everybody got from that particular wreck of a toyline, and more importantly if you regretted the purchase or not.

Now let me state that I don't count the Human Alliance Basics as part of the proper DOTM line. Sure they got DOTM packaging and all that but I feel they're just too remove from the movie, concept and aesthetic wise to really fit with the movie toys. I did get all the molds except Thunderhead and Backfire (I know folks love the backfire canon mode but his robot mode looks STUPID to me, lacks good beefy shoulders, Sandstorm is my fav).

So me:

Voyager Skyhammer. Great toy, powerful looking robot, cool helicopter mode and clever transformation. No regret there.

DLX Crankcase. Dramatic robot mode sculpt, BORING vehicle mode and its almost impossible to push his shell back into truck mode because the dreads conflict for space with the arms. Too much of a shell former. I regret getting this guy even if he looks like a crazy predator mixed with a bug. Dude needed some color too.

DLX Nitro Bumblebee. Got him only for the vehicle mode during the Toys R Us 6$ sale. That vehicle mode is just awesome. With a different head and some of Armored topspin's weapons he'd make a GREAT Chromedome. Too shell-formery still though. For the price I paid for him I don't regret it but if someone know where to get a replacement head I'm open to suggestion.

DLX Laserbeak. Another boxing week 6$ purchase. He's such a goofy toy I couldn't pass him up. Very expressive sculpt, but I wouldn't have like to pay the full 16,99 for this guy no way. The guns are cool I guess, the 'vehicle mode' is a bit of a joke and just causes the cockpit piece to hang off him in bird mode :/

Cyberverse Hatchet. I didn't even know about this guy until I spoted a transformer sitting sideway in his Cyberverse package. There was very ew of him and he looked cool so I got him. I think he's a clever bit of design with the whole animal look and those little drones are cool. Kinda wish the hands could hide better in vehicle mode but he's a very neat little guy nonetheless.

Cyberverse Blackout. So hard to find! The only one I ever saw I purchased. I like helicopter Transformer and Blackout is pretty good (much better than HA Basic Whirl, who I kinda regret but his cool clip on weapons make up for it, that's for sure...), the only bit I find anoying is the tail rotor hanging awkwardly off his arm. The way the feet transform is clever. The Scorponok gun is a fun accesory.

Cyberverse Powerglide. Had to get him from the US when I traded FE stuff for stuff I couldn't find here. I like him, the accesorie weapons are fun but a bit hard to use more than one way in robot mode because the wings get in the way. The alt-mode is SO Powerglide its awesome! Really happy they made him.

Cyberverse Megatron (single release). I love the new movie Megatron but quite frankly the Voyager needed PAINT apps and some COLOUR to make me want him (couldn't they have decoed his tarp into green camo or something dangit?!) so I went and got the tiny Cyberverse one. I really like the alt mode and the simplified transformation. The tank/gun is fun. Got him on sale at Zellers. Not a bad pick at all.

And I did get my hand on the Target exclusive DOTM Spacecase but that is a retool of the HFTD Terradive mold which I heard good things about. Yes its a DOTM toy but at the same time its not since its originally from another line. He's cast in smokey clear blue plastic and he looks amazing. A few joints are slightly loose but he's still a fun figure.

I might still get Armored Topspin, mostly because of his accesories but that'll depend if there is another sale on deluxes.

So what about you guys?

I got quite a few

Deluxes
Topspin - both car and robot are really cool, transformation is interesting.
Roadbuster - not much to say about him, alt mode is pretty cool
Laserbeak - I actually really like the guy. BUt yes, alt mode is lame.
Crankcase - Wasnt going to get him but after seeing the movie, I caved. Like you said robot mode is awesome, and I cant seem to fit him together properly for alt mode.

Voyagers
Shockwave - love everything about him, powerful looking robot.
Skyhammer - YOu pretty much summed him up good.
Megatron - I like him, although mod epaints apps would be nice, but that aside, I have no problems with him, love the alt mode.
Repaint Optimus Prime - ...yeah, dont know what I was thinking, alt mode is fine though

Human Alliance
Roadbuster - awesome, just awesome:clapping:
Leadfoot (Target one) - Alt mode is great, robot mode...not a fan of it.

Leader
Sentinel Prime - transformation reminds me of ROTF Prime, great figure all round except for the voice..."Sentinel Prime!" Should get the american one.

Voyager Shockwave - kinda sorta fits in my CHUG Decepticon display and is an inexpensive alternative to a customized Energon Shockwave which would probably be more fitting.

Deluxe Bumblebee and Barricade - You can't really have one without the other. Besides, they were free thanks to TRU GCs

most of the line was unimpressive to me; though i got black jetwing prime and the reissue rotf jetfire+prime set as the japanese exclusives seem to have more appeal

I'm still collecting at the moment, I'm late to the party, but want to get most of the new figures from the third film with only a few new mold representations of characters from the first two films. (Barricade, Ratchet, Ironhide, Blackout, Etc...)

I don't hate the Toyline, I can't understand why so many people consider it to be such a bad line. I mean seriously, it looks great. Sure the gimmick is a bit frustrating, I mean who really wants massive guns hanging off their alt modes and stuff? But it isn't a deal breaker for me.

So far I've picked up the following:

Cyberverse Legion:
Crankcase, a great tiny version of the character, still looking forward to the Deluxe, don't care if it has issues. The Cyberverse one does have a bit of a loose knee joint issue, but he's damn neat looking. I just wish that Cybverse Legion figures included small pistols, I mean they go to all the trouble of making them capable of holding the Commander weapons, but don't bother including any actual weapons with the Legion class? LAME.

Crowbar, I like this figure, but I am a bit worried as to how tight his legs peg in to the arms, I hope that won't lead to breaking.

Leadfoot, I scored him because he was the only one on the shelf, glad I did. I like him, but he does seem to have a big of a chunky-bot design. I wish the top of the car had another panel to flip in or something so it didn't look too awkward.

Cyberverse Commander:

Blackout/Scorponok, this guy has gotten a ton of praise and he doesn't dissapoint, I am a bit concerned though at possible paint flaking around his feet. I noticed a lot of scratch marks on them just from TFing him a few times, and I can't recall if he came out of the package like that.

Decepticon Hatchet, this figure is awesome, standing with the other two Cyberverse Dreads he looks great. My one issue with him is that his drones do not attach very good in vehicle mode. Rendering his landing gear useless. A minor quibble he's not to scale with Blackout, but that's an issue with every TF line.

Mech Tech Deluxe:

Laserbeak, got him from TRU during the boxing day sale. He's a funky, fun looking figure. I really have no complaints with him as a figure. The Mech Tech weapons however are a pain when combined as they don't fit very well on the figure when you combine them.

Human Alliance Basic:

Major Tungsten with Thunderhead, I picked this figure up last year, possibly around the summer I forget. He was my first DotM Figure and my first Human Alliance figure. I really have nothing much to say about him, he does what he does, I really want to get more of them though. Especially Tailwhip and Pinpointer.

Out of Seven figures I don't have too many issues with any of them, just a few minor foibles. I'll probably have a few more Cybverse figures by the end of the week. I'm still hoping to find a Powerglide and Guzzle at retail.

I love the Dark of the Moon toyline, it's the movie that isn't entirely my all time favorite out of the three.

I got quite a few, but far less than I've gotten from the previous two movie lines. I grabbed:

"Ultimate" Optimus Prime: honestly...I kinda love it. The alt mode is grand, if not lacking in a few paint apps that I applied myself with my trusty silver sharpie. Optimus might be a little strange in his bot mode, but I find it appealing. He isn't screen accurate, but they've changed up enough that you can tell they weren't really trying to be. Powered-up mode is fun; again, it is in no way screen accurate, and the BFG is fairly useless, but it's a fun set up and helps distinguish him from the flood of other Movie Primes out there. I just wish his trailer had come with some sort of "base mode" so it could do something useful when Prime is in his normal bot mode.

Leader Sentinel Prime: love it. Great alt mode, complex transformation, decent robot mode. I wish he didn't have the "electronics box" gut that most Leader Class figures have, but it's acceptable. Kinda hard getting from bot to truck with all of the panels that need to be lined up, but still a great figure.

Leader Ironhide: love it. Great alt mode, great bot mode and a transformation that's simple but still does enough to keep me satisfied. My only complaint is on mine, the legs are kinda loose, and I'm not sure how to tighten that sort of joint.

Voyager Skyhammer: love it. Not just a good DOTM toy, but a good Transformers toy in general.

Voyager Shockwave: meh. Just got it for the bot mode. Not a big fan of Cybertronian gibberish modes, but it's...alright I guess.

Voyager Megatron: crap. Got him as a gift, and I still feel cheated. He looks like a knock off, and a cheap one at that. The gray triangle that runs across his doors in alt mode is unforgivable lazy designing. Come spring, he's going to be disassembled and painted.

Deluxe Roadbuster: crap. Like most of the Deluxes, shitty paint apps, loose joints, looks nothing like his movie self and barely functions on any level. Spoiler alert: I regret just about all of my Deluxe purchases...

Deluxe Topspin: meh. Nice guns, but that's about it.

Deluxe Nitro BB: not terrible, but not good. Alt mode is fun, but bot mode is shit.

Deluxe Ratchet: not good, but not terrible. Better than most, but that's not saying much.

Deluxe Thundercracker: ass.

Deluxe Crankcase: not bad after removing his dreads and adding paint.

Deluxe Jolt: ass. Was hoping it'd be better than reviews, but it isn't.

Deluxe Optimus: is okay. His alt mode is fairly slick, but the backpack being an entire truck front end in bot mode is a let down.

Deluxe Barricade: super ass.

Cyberverse Blackout: love it.

Cyberverse Hatchet: love it.

Cyberverse Powerglide: love it.

Cyberverse Ironhide: s'okay.

Cyberverse Megatron: is...better than the Voyager, but not by much.

Cyberverse Sentinel: gah. Terrible.

From DOTM, I got all of... nothing!
I wanted Voyager Skyhammer, but never got around to grabbing him when he was on sale.

My trend is funny for the movie toys:
Movie '07: bought about 12-15 toys, sold off or gave away all of them except for Leader Prime and Premium Prime
ROTF: bought only 4 toys, sold off 2, kept only Leader Prime and Black Leader PRime
DOTM: nothing!

"What didn't I get?" might be easier to reply, but here goes:

What I Got from DOTM and what I think of each:

Cyberverse

Sets
Ark with Autobot Roller - Lots of fun.
Megatron w/ BlastWave Weapons Base - excellent
Optimus Prime w/ Armored Weapons Platform - excellent
Shockwave Fusion Tank - half good, half fail.

Commander Class
Guzzle - Awesome
Blackout with Scorponok - Awesome
Hatchet - Awesome
Powerglide - Awesome

Human Alliance
Whirl - pretty good, especially weapon mode
Backfire - OK, but the lack of hands almost kills him. Great weapons tho.
Thunderhead - just OK. Weak vehicle mode, wonky arms.
Dragstrip - Good. Excellent car mode, good bot mode but bad shoulders.
Icepick - good, though his weapons suck. But I love him cuz he's a GOALIEBOT.
Roadbuster - awesome
Sandstorm - one of the best small HA figures. Excellent in both modes.
Tailpipe & Pinpointer - awesome, my favorite small HA figure.

Deluxe
Air Raid - quirky, but I like him a fair bit.
Ratchet - very good version of him.
Topspin - awesome
Barricade - opposite of the previous Barricade deluxe; great upper half, weak lower.
Cyberfire (EVIL!) Bumblebee - good figure, but I irrationally love him for being evilbee.
Crankcase - great, even if I did get one from the US with no big fingers.
Jolt - I like the figure, not the colors so much. Too much dull gray. He looks great painted silver now!
Laserbeak - awesome.
Optimus Prime - very good and massively improved with paint upgrades.
Roadbuster - awesome.
Sideswipe - awesome after I painted him metallic silver!
Thundercracker - awesome

Voyagers
Ironhide - pretty good, but has some weaknesses in the arms. Lousy weapon.
Megatron - Love this guy. Wish his head was a little bigger, that's about it.
Optimus Prime - I like this guy a lot more than most people. Very stylized and using his gas tanks as dual blasters improves the fun factor a good deal.
Sentinel Prime - very good. Not as good as the Leader, but still a solid figure.
Shockwave - awesome
Skyhammer - awesome, only drawback are his slightly wonky knees

Leader
Ironhide - well I love him, especially after I'd painted him up (lower half now black and metallic gray)
Sentinel Prime - awesome

------------------------

And there's still more DOTM figures I want:

Cyberverse Dreads: Crankcase, Crowbar
Cyberverse Wreckers: Leadfoot, Roadbuster, Topspin
Cyberverse Sentinel Prime (Commander)
Cyberverse Ironhide (Commander)
Cyberverse Flak
HA Leadfoot

And if they're ever released in North America:

Cyberverse Soundwave (if he's ever released over here)
HA Soundwave!
Deluxe Que or G1-esque Wheeljack
Deluxe Soundwave
HA Reverb
Deluxe Leadfoot
Leader Striker Optimus Prime

/EDIT

Wow, quick count and rough calculation of what I paid (I bought pretty much everything on sale), I got 36 DOTM figures and spent about $500 on the collection. Not bad I guess?

If the character was in the movie it's on my shelf. If the character is not in the movie then it's not on my shelf. Pretty simple. They are 2 exceptions to this rule: Cyberverse Powerglide and Guzzle, only because they were bought to go on my classics shelf.

Also of note, nothing bigger then voyager.

My biggest regret of dark of the moon toys was the inevitable flood of yellow that came with it.... I don't even like bumblebee that much, I don't even know how it got to this. Throughout 3 movies... this is what my shelf looks like. And I'm not even even a completionist. Imagine smeone who has ALL the bulmblebees!

all the cyberverse bots, sets and commanders bots.the only one i regret so far is the ratchet/rover set.
ratchet is neat, but the lunar/mars thing that comes with him is seriously too big in normal mode, and the wannabe vehicle armor mode is just a joke.

besides them, i only picked up evil cyberfire bb ,lunar fire walmart deluxe prime and voyager shockwave.

oh ,and wifey got me the ultimate brick-amus prime for my birthday.

Voyagers: Shockwave, Cannon Force Ironhide

Deluxes: Bumblebee, Ratchet, Topspin, Barricade, Darksteel, Vortex, Cyberfire Bumblebee

I'd get a leader-class Decepticon as well, assuming that Hasbro chooses to make something better than TFTM leader Brawl or HFTD leader Starscream. I highly suspect they won't, though. I can't see Hasbro releasing any non-repaint leaders, and repaints are likely to go to Bee/Ironhide/Sentinel before any Decepticons.

I completely forgot I also got Specialist Ratchet. Got him pretty cheap on sale at Zellers (said it was 20% off but turned out to scan at like 9,99 :p ). I liked his vehicle mode (though the head really needed to be able to flip down -.- and there's some wasted space that could have house a regular non-mechtech weapon if they had wanted) but mine has spotty paint app on the face and I HATE his shoulders. They don't peg into anything and they sag when you give him his stupid gun!And that stupid backpack! Bleh. He's already in storage somewhere.

I guess he's so forgettable I regret him. I do like the chunky look and his feet being made of actual vehicle bits instead of hidden behind pannels.

Deluxe:
-Topsion: Awesome
-Crankcase: Kinda awesome
-Laserbeak: Murder Turkey awesome
Voyager:
-Ironhide: He's great from the waist down, not too crazy about his arms
-Shockwave: Pretty nice, even though he turns into nothing.
Leader:
-Sentinel Prime: I have the American Version with the complete Soundbox So I'd say he was worth the buy. To be honest I'd say his transformation is more fiddly than ROTF Prime's. After a couple times, you'll get Optimus Prime, but Sentinel.... o_o

Voyager Shockwave, leader sentinel and leader ironhide.

I might still pick up leader bumblebee, but other than that there's nothing that I felt was really worth getting that I came across.

Personally I'm a bit tired of the overall movie style (to each their own though), but after the first couple waves started hitting it really seemed like we weren't going to get all of the characters I wanted to see in the scales they deserved to be in, so I just grabbed the few that I really had to have and that was it.

For DOTM toys I have:
Leader:
Sentinel, Ironhide
Voyager:
Prime, Megatron, Shockwave, Sentinel Prime
Deluxe:
Topspin, Roadbuster, BB (to repaint for my brother so not for myself), Sideswipe, Crankcase x4 (1 to keep as SUV, 3 modded for Dreads), Laserbeak.
The Legends figures I like the most but more of the larger legends. Didnt repeat the ROTF legends figs.
I'd LIKE to get Deluxe Leadefoot, Mirage/Dino, Que/Wheeljack and deluxe SW and HA SW but who the hell knows if that will happen.

My DOTM hauls:

Cyberverse Legion:
Roadbuster
Topspin
Leadfoot
Sideswipe
Ratchet
Skids
Barricade
Crankcase
Crowbar

Cyberverse Commander:
Optimus Prime
OP w/ Trailer
Powerglide
Ironhide
Sentinel Prime
Megatron
Megatron w/ Trailer
Heatchet
Blackout

Deluxe:
Topspin
Roadbuster
Comettor (Commettor/Optimus Prime 2-pack)
Air Raid
Jazz w/ Cybertronian Tattoos
Ironhide (Scan Series)
Barricade
Crankcase (Long Fingered Version)
Laserbeak
Starscream
Thundercracker

Voyager:
Optimus Prime
Skyhammer
Megatron

Human Alliance Basic:
Whirl
Tailpipe
Sandstorm
Backfire
Thunderhead
Icepick

Human Alliance:
Roadbuster

All in all, some of these guys were really well done like HA Roadbuster and Skyhammer (both of which were a big pain in the a$$ to find.) And I really liked how the HA Basics transformed into weapons for larger bots (Tailpipe, Backfire and Icepick did this best although it would have been better had the old HA figures had 5mm ports or were able to hold these guys in some way.)

IMO, I feel that the line was a great success though a lot of figures never appeared here in Fredericton and I am looking forward to this spring when the Generations line restarts.

I got most of it. I, too, don't really understand the hate this line gets. I don't even care for the movie, so it's not movie fandom getting in the way. I just think that some are awesome, the vast majority are decent to middling, and some are just ugh. There's a definite lack of energy and excitement in this line, but I don't quite get why it generates such passionate hatred in some quarters.

I got most of the Deluxes (excepting most of the Bees), all the Voyagers except Prime, the leaders except Bee, the HA except Thunderhead (stupid vehicle mode).

I picked and chose with Cyberverse. I like the Commanders, but hate the Legion size -- too underarticulated. The boxed Cyberverse were a mix of the two, so I got Prime, Megatron, and Shockwave, but not the others. I have yet to find Guzzle.

I also got HA Roadbuster and Leadfoot from the states when I was there.

Standouts:

Cyberverse Blackout
Cyberverse Powerglide
Cyberverse Hatchet

HA Backfire
HA Tailpipe

Deluxe Air Raid

Voyager Skyhammer
Voyager Megatron
Leader Sentinel
Ultimate Optimus

Ones that I like, even though they're not the best:

Deluxe Crankcase
Deluxe Jolt
Deluxe Starscream
Deluxe Topspin
HA Sandstorm
HA Whirl
HA Leadfoot

Ones that were misfires:

Laserbeak
Cyberverse Shockwave
Sideswipe (would not have bought it had I known about Darksteel)

There are few that are out-and-out awful. Many of them have some drawbacks that are balanced by neat or interesting features.

Like Voyager Shockwave. Robot mode is really great. Vehicle mode? Not so much. I think it's better than Energon Shockwave/blast, but not by much. Like Alexander Quinn, I don't really go for Cybertronian "it's a vehicle because we say so" modes, but the aesthetic has been done better in Generations.

One thing DOTM is missing are the showstoppers -- the figures that really make you stand up and take notice. There were some -- Skyhammer and Megatron, others mentioned above. But too many felt like placeholders. Why did we get new twins, Barricade, Sideswipe, etc --none of those designs felt like they needed to be done. They weren't bad -- in some cases, like the twins, they were significantly less frustrating than ROTF -- but they also didn't wow. There's a big lack of wow.

Along with that, reduction in size and paint apps hurt the line as a whole. Roadbuster and Sideswipe are the poster children for this -- both would have been helped by some paint. Sideswipe has several direct comparisons to ROTF which make it feel like a discount/knockoff version. The mold is decent, but it's hard not to feel like everything is less.

Mostly, this feels like a line with very little imagination. The best figures were the Voyagers and the Cyberverse Commanders. Deluxes ended up getting the short ends of the paint and design sticks. It feels like the line was rushed, but now, much later, nothing much is happening. As a whole, the DOTM line feels so scattershot, poorly planned and implemented. The choice of figures in a wave, the releases of the waves, and the utter lack of synergy with the extremely successful movie is completely baffling. Monkeys with dartboards could have done a better job with this product line.

ROTF seemed to blossom later on, with lots of great figures like Bludgeon, Mindwipe, Seaspray, Highbrow, Lugnut...and that's just the Voyagers. Where are the DOTM equivalents? Still waiting. Maybe Hasbro is just moving on. TF:Prime feels like a shot in the arm, so maybe DOTM is just destined to be a middling line that never quite found its groove.

Didn't buy a single one. Saddly none of it screamed BUY Me.

Seriously. It could feel at home in just about any TF toyline and it's a great design.

It makes me sad when people pass up this figure solely because it's DOTM.

Yeah Skyhammer is just wonderful, he feels like a guy you would put as the Autobot Air Commander. He has that prescence to him you know? The onl downpoint would be his mechtech weapon (and he's got two little weapon you can peg into 5 mm ports to replace that) and his weird knee design but otherwise the way they utilize the rotor is BRILLIANT and I really hope we see that pattern reused somewhere down the line.

Still own:

Leader Sentinel Prime
Human Alliance Leadfoot
Hatchet
Guzzle

Bought but sold

Voyager Megatron and Shockwave, a couple of Human Alliance Basics, Scan Series Ironhide, Deluxe Crankcase, and Deluxe Ratchet.

I just wasn't crazy enough about any of those figures to warrant keeping them. They were fun to fiddle with but I'm not a huge fan of the movie style so I sold them to folks that would have some more enjoyment out of them.

I ended up picking up more than I intended to. There just seemed to more interesting figures than I thought there would be. And I'm still pleased with most of them.

Voyager

Optimus Prime
Shockwave
Skyhammer

Lucky you managed to get a Guzzle, he never showed up here in Freddy and the we only ever got a couple of boxes for the ones with the tattoos. Both Spacecase and Jazz pretty much sold out, leaving Zellers choked with Arcees and Bumblebees.

Well, let's see going in the order they're given on the wiki:

Cyberverse

Commander
Blackout
Powerglide
Hatchet
Guzzle

Action Set
Bumblebee
Starscream
Megatron
Optimus
Shockwave

So, like a lot of people, I think I got sucked by the promise of base and city formers. But in the end, they were mostly just crappy wastes of plastic. Except for Optimus and Megatron. They're pretty cool. Especially Megatron. Still waiting for my Nemesis Prime/RiD Scourge repaint/remold of him.

Mech Tech

Deluxe
Crackcase
Thundercracker
Cyberfire Bumblebee
Specialist Ratchet
Target/Zellers Exclusive Space Case
WalMart Exclusive Lunarfire Optimus Prime

Voyager
Megatron
Shockwave
Skyhammer
Fireburst Optimus Prime

Half the these figures I only bought because of my own personal fan fiction as my "What If" Evil movie Autobots. Also, HATE the Mech Tech weapon system.

Human Alliance

Basics
Icepick
Backfire

Too bad we didn't get anything other than the first wave or I would have bought more. I would have loved to pick up Drag Strip aka Armada Mirage/Skyboom Shield. And I probably would have picked up Tailpipe and Reverb too.

Overall, I can't wait for the DOTM line to disappear from shelves. There are a few good figures in there. Cyberverse Powerglide and Blackout are amazing figures. As is Voyager Megatron. And you gotta love Icepick, little Transformer hockey goalie, who may or may not female. :p

I have some hope that, if they're going to repaint figures from DOTM for the Trilogy line, they pick some of the better molds and reuse them in a clever and interesting way. Like voyager Megatron. If they slap a Prime head and black paint job on that, I will snatch that up in half a second. But I'm not going to hold my breath. It'll probably be a long train of shit.

Not a one.
The movies were dribble and the line of toys the movie was created for are just as bad.

The movie lines took a while to grow on me and have had some grudging enjoyment of them.

Anyhow, only 2 DOTM figs for me:

Cyberverse Flak --- complete waste. No articulation.

Deluxe Starscream: Something about it appealled to me, my first movie Starscream, I liked it more than I thought.

Might still get Voy Skyhammer, looks good.....

Skyhammer is one of the better DOTM. Definitely in the Top 5. He's probably one of the better movie toys in general. He is almost like a Classics figure for a character that doesn't exist. If that makes any sense. And his MechTech weapon is one of the better ones, I just wish it was a little slimmer and not such a block with a gun/sword coming out of it.

Again, I hope they do really clever repaint of him for Trilogy line. Maybe as Springer. Or even Spinister.

Feel free to completely ignore this, however I have to say your views on the subject strike me as... Well I'm not sure what exactly. The point of fact is this, while the movieline may not be your cup of tea I have to disagree with your assessment of the toys.

The engineers and designers at both Hasbro and Takara/Tomy have spent over three years creating these toys, some of them admittedly suffer from line gimmick issues or could have been done better, but others have been consistently praised by fans.

The molds deserve better than to just be called 'bad'.

^^ Well said, in the least the Movie line has moved Transformers engineering ahead in leaps and bounds much to our benefit on all lines.
