I'll wait for the sale.
That's brutal for a price point, no matter how well designed. Alternators were over priced at $35.

My offer is $30. Economy bend to my will.

Like I said here...

...it's bananas to think HA BB is the same price as a full tank of gas.

I thought he had an MSRP of $30 in the US? That should equate to an MSRP of $40 at most here... $45 on a bad day.

Ugh. This is TFA Purplewave all over again.

Yeah, this! He is $29.99 in the US. Nice job on the 67% price increase TRU Canada! Sheesh, the gods must be crazy! (Seriously, what the hell are they thinking with some of these retardedly high prices lately...I suppose Zellers has been the main culprit).

As much as I hate to say it. It looks like Walmart will be our last hope for a good price on these figs. Ugg, I feel dirty already.

FYI, I've found the South Surrey Wal-Mart Super Centre to be the least "ghetto" of all the Wally Worlds in the GVRD.

I had some store credit at BBTS so I ordered it with a couple other things. It was $35 USD which works out to a little over $39 Canadian. Its not much cheaper but better than $49.99.

I hope enough of us refuse to pay $49.99 that whoever decided this price realizes that we are not quite the suckers we're assumed to be, and so they stop this rediculous "them adult fans will pay anything!" way of thinking.

Of course, if we all cave in and drop the $50 because we "have to get him now!" then all we're doing is setting ourselves up for more and more of this super-high pricing in the future.

"How much?"

"Considering the vehicle mode detail of the figure and the Sam Witwicky action figure..."

"But the figure looks doped up."

"Ya, but it's a new concept."

"It's a doped up concept?"

"When it's your first Human Alliance figure I wouldn't expect you to understand. $50."

"Not paying over $40, sorry."

*hopes BB breaks all the other toys in the isle*:D

I am defiantly waiting for a sale for this one. I still can't handle the reasoning. Figure looks awesome, but I think $40 would have been a more acceptable price tag (Though $35 would be preferred :D)

I agree. I was always under the impression that these were going to be priced the same as Alternators ($29.99-$34.99). I can't see the average person buying this either, I mean for $10 more they could get Leader Prime or save like $35 and buy deluxe Bumblebee.

Paradigm-Shift Prime

I don't even know that they have any sort of logic with some of this pricing.

As it would have to be something like: "Voyager figure is $30 (and we sell much more volume when on sale for under $25)...so voyager figure and a really cheap little pvc figure in a snazzy box, hmm, yeah $50, that makes sense!"

Equally crappy logic for the Blackout/whatshisname repaint 2-pack. It's a voyager and a deluxe packaged together, $30 plus $15 minus a combined packaged discount equals...$50!? (Or is it $60!?!!!). For that one there is at least the TRU exclusive factor to figure in, but still, totally retarded.

I don't even know that they have any sort of logic with some of this pricing.

I think it is more like "Let's see, what are we charging for that purple Shockwave pack? $50? Well this Bumblebee is about the size of that purple Shockwave, and this little Sam figure is about the size of an Activator, so..."

Actually, I think the logic may be more along the lines of "This one is gonna be big with the adult nerds who collect em. They got money - so crank the pricing gun up to "gouge"".

More like "stab, twist and turn".

Indeed HA-BB looks more to be aimed at us than the little ones.

Still, that's not excuse to wring us dry...

While the alt mode is a bit underwhelming when in the box, it's nicely detailed, with lots of paint apps.

Bot mode, however, is a LOT more than a voyager toy. Lots of paint apps, articulation weaponry. I'd have to say it's well worth 40$.

If you guys have an extra 10$ lying around, I recommend getting it.

I think I like HA Bumblebee even more than Leader Prime. I would rather have just ONE line of Human Alliance-style movie figures at $40-50 each than multiple versions at multiple price points. Give him rubber tires and he's an Alternator, only 10 times better.

jjwankenobi
06-22-2009, 04:39 PM
Human Alliance Bumblebee hasn't shown up west of The Rockies yet, but all the US/UK reviews I've seen say that HA BB is the ROTF toy to buy espcially if you are just getting one this time around. I'm guessing the lower price in the States and 'across the pond' made it worth their while to buy.

Any Eastern Canada board members recommend HA BB at $50CDN? The consensus is that he's overpriced but is he worth skipping a fill up at the gas tanks?

Not that anyone here's gonna know, but what's the assumption on the Arcee that's supposed to come with HA Skids? I mean, what size is it gonna be and will it transform?

I'm assuming from the size of Sam here that it'll be Scout-sized if that, maybe even Legends, and may or may not transform.

I'm leaning towards that HA set, as I'm skipping the Skids/Mudflap figures at the deluxe size in favour of the Ice Cream Truck.

EDIT: Wait, retract all that, I see the figure does transform on the teaser pic floating around, although it's a red Chromia rather than smaller version of the Arcee deluxe.

I just read that an HA Barricade with Frenzy was announced at BotCon 2009.

Looks like BB won't be the only HA class toy I pick up now.

Damn.

I think it's still worth getting. Once it goes on sale it'll become a definite must have, and I'm pretty sure it'll fly off the shelves.

...Unless Hasbro is sitting on an insane amount of HA BBs, then it'll just clog the shelves and drop in price like a rock.

I can only speak for myself. I bought it, and it the best toy I've bough since the UM trailer from Fanprojects.

Personally I don't regret spending $50 for it. That being said I'm sure it will be pelentiful at the walmarts in a few weeks for at least $10 less.

No, it's really a brand new smaller-than-a-scout mold. Even Knockout is too big for the Sam figure that comes with BB, so it was to be smaller than a Scout.

I still vote we boycott HA figures at $50 to send the message that this is NOT an OK price point for HA nor for other related fan-targeted items.

If we snap up Purple TFA Shockwaves and HA Bumblebees at $50, we are sending the statistical message loud and clear that this is an OK price point for "slightly more than Voyager" TFs.

That is not a precedent I want to set.

Instead if most of us wait it out and leave them on the shelves, we might generate a sale and then we pounce on them at sale price ($40 or less). That message should be clear ro retailers and Hasbro Canada.

I'm also holding some hope that WalMart will price HA BB more aggressivly low. Don't forget he has a US MSRP of $34.99!

I actually scraped up the $50.00 and I gotta say it's Alt mode isn't super fantastic but the Robot mode is super detailed and tons of fun.
Like you said maybe you'll wait for a sale and end up missing this completely.
Or this may end up clogging the shelves like usual.

I picked it up at Zellers in Pickering, ON today... it's also 49.99... I think that's the MSRP from Hasbro, not particular from TRU or Zellers... I still haven't seen this item at any Wal-Mart yet... it could most likely be 49.92, and not 39.99 as most of you are expecting...

I just got the figure.....50 bux surely is pricy. But then it is the best movie Bumblebee you can get(i really like it with the flipping mask!!). I rather get this instead of the Ultimate Bumblebee seriously.

Am I hearing that he's $39.99 at WalMart? If so then SOLD. That's what he should cost ($30-35 usd, 40 cdn). He's worth 10 more than a Voyager for the extra engineering and Sam, but that $50 price point is just too far.

Anyone that owns HA-BB ever tried this leg mod (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-video-reviews/244052-peaugh-displays-final-human-alliance-bumblebee-mod.html) yet? Is it really that simple?

Honestly I'm a little leery of taking him apart but I'm all for increasing screen accuracy.
