I'm not sure if there is already a thread like this on here so i thought i would start one. I wanted to get everyones prediction for Box Office ticket sales for ROTF. We can break the stats into: opening weekend, domestic and worldwide. For an added bonus we can predict when the movie becomes profitable. As per wikipedia the production budget was 200M.

My prediction is:

110M Opening weekend
(Wednesday through Sunday)
445M Domestic
920M WorldWide

July 1st the movie becomes profitable.

Are we talking US domestic? North American? Worldwide? and in what, US dollars?

Opening weekend, domestic take - per Boxoffice Mojo's reports - I'll guess $120 million.

I think Hangover will take a third week at number 1. Then ROTF will come in somewhere around the original Spider-man, but will lose steam really quickly.

I guess when they say domestic it means for the north american audiences. As far as i know all figures are tracked in US dollars.

For the winner, i'll put up my Tfcon exclusive city commander trailer armor LOLOL Joke Joke. The winner gets mutual respect and admiration from their transformer collecting peers for being to see into the future.

290 million domestic. In short while I think it will be a financial success just like the first film I don't think its going to make more money than the first did.

Maybe even $270 million might be a better number. I think a lot of everyday people got this out of their system with the first film and are not likely to watch the sequel in the theaters.

I think the only chance it has to do better would be thats its created more new fans than I'm giving it credit for.

I think it is going to crack the top 20 all time gross domestic list beating the first movie.

I think the release will be cancelled and that the movie will be released straight to dvd.

As long as i can watch it on blu-ray i wouldn't mind :).

Actually i'm starting to think that it just may do 1Billion worldwide. I read an article in the paper about how the movie industry normally does well when there is a recession on. If you think about a movie is a fairly cheap form of entertainment and a night out. People still want to have fun but on a tighter budget. The article cited that "gone with the wind", the best movie of all-tme for ticket sales if you adjust for inflation, came at the end of the great depression. So heres hoping that it does well. The better it does, means a bigger budget for the inevitable 3rd movie which means more bot scenes etc etc.

I would say about $125 million for the 5 day opening, and $330 overall domestic.

No, thats GIJOE.:p

Only after they re-shoot it and re-edit it so Wayan's character is brutally murdered, instead of ending up in a coma.

$151 million opening weekend...

And the closest without going over is...

Well, should be no line ups anyway.:p

Actually I'm definitly going to watch GIJOE as well. But Sommers has never made a film I enjoyed some I'm going in with low expectations. Maybe it will surprise me.

Should have had Sgt. Slaughter though
