I was at TRU the other day and that nice grandma was trying to find something Transformers for his 3-year-old grandson. I directed her to Gravity Bots, Battle Chargers and Power Bots and she was happy as can be (I think she ended up getting all 3 versions of Bumblebee). For someone who's not into Transformers, I can understand how a giant wall displaying all the various sub-series with the same style of packaging can be confusing... I was at Wal-Mart a few days before that and a young mother and her son were looking at RPMs and were confused by the lack of transformation despite the visible "robot mode" underneath"...

Good job Pascal! I enjoy doing little things like that when the opportunity arises too. It can be tough being a grandparent. It's always a good idea to get info from other informed shoppers, especially ones as informed as we are.

Oh jez...if I had a nickel every time this (or something like it) has happened to me through my hunts....I could probably buy a scout or deluxe fig...

"Do you know which one is a good one?"

"How old is he?

"(insert age here)"

"that one"

....oh its fun.

I did get a little tingly before I clicked on this thread.

Way to go Man. That's the easy way to earn you "Assisting the Elderly Badge." I can't help but think that you could have earned by riding a flying house to Paradise Falls, while befriending a rare bird and a talking dog. But still a badge is a badge and you have definitely earned your status as Senior Explor..Squirrel

Yeah, it's always nice when you can help somone out. When the first movie toys were out, I prevented a mother and grandmother from buying a Cyber Stompin Optimus Prime instead of the Leader Prime that the kid wanted.

Mom - "I think this is the one he wants, the big one"

Me (Interjecting) - "That one doesn't transform, just so you know, it dances"

Mom - "Uh oh! That's Definetly not the one he wants..."

Me - "They don't have them here, they have them at Wal-Mart across the street and they're 20 dollars cheaper..."

The mother and grandmother were more than pleased, and then I saw them again at Wal-Mart with the correct Prime in their hands.

I wouldn't have wanted to be that kid getting a Dancin' Optimus Prime instead of a Leader Class Prime, LOL.

Cheers!

Good work Pacal,

I have had that before, but the person didn't take my advice. I think that it was during the Alternator period and some grandma asked if it was good for a 6 year old. I explained that they are for older kids, but a Cybertron figure would be better becuase they are less fragile.
She proceeded to the check-out saying that her grand kid likes cars so the alternator would be fine.

I hope jimmy liked his future pile of broken plastic.

TeeHee-ous!:D

Yah, I gave advise to a mother getting TF's for her young child (5?). I directed her away from some complexer figures and to Cybertron basics.

She took my advice and that was reward enough.

...although I wouldn't have minded if it ended with her saying
"Your advice was invaluable! Let me buy a Transformer for you, too!" :)

that happened to me once.i was at walmart and i had a leader class figure in my hands(animated magnus i think) and a mother came up to me and asked "where did you get that?that would be good for my 3 year old son!" then i told her its a little too "hard" to transform for a 3 year old and then i showed her the activators and she ended up getting activators bb.
