But for whatever reason they don't have anything out back. One would think that they would have ordered more stuff in before the sale if their stock was already low. Especially for a 40% off sale. You don't want people coming in for a big deal like that and not having anything to sell them. It just sounds like poor management.

It definitely depends on the store, some sell stock faster than others or had more to clear out. Another week or so and the shelves will likely be packed with new product again.

Did you try going back later? You know that they pull merchandise before a big sale, to prevent to many people from buying it early and refunding the price difference. So they have stock when the sale shows up. They did that here. They only left 1 fig on each peg.

Just got back from 4 TRU stores today...wow that was an epic ride. Got some price adjustments and picked up about $109 worth of TFs altogether.

The Oakville location has about 4 Countdowns and 4 Stormclouds.

Here in St. Catharines, there are some Countdowns (about 5-6) and Darkwings (3-4). I picked up a Darkwing, left the Countdowns on the shelf though - the character doesn't do anything for me and that mold has been reused a couple of times I think.

Also, there are a bunch of Unicrons, a small assortment of various Voyager and Deluxe Universe, Leader/voyager Bulkheads, oilslicks, ani twins, supreme prime, 25th prime, ani SS, blitzwing, grimlock, ani voyager megatron, ani soundwave, swindle, plus the usual shelfwarmers from the 1st movie stuff.

Has anyone seen Animated Leader Megatron or Ultra Magnus at their local TRU? Would appreciate a heads up if you have. Thanks and good hunting.

I was about to leave, but I decided to inspect the Ultras a little better, and they had a lone Countdown and Darkwing at the back. They weren't there this morning! And I picked up a Activators Grimlock just for the heck of it.

I specifically price matched the voyager and activators prices, which are listed on the flyer as "original price XX, now XX." Superstore actually matched the 40% off (yay deluxe Blurr), but Zellers would not match a generic 40% off. They were willing to match the specifically advertised voyager/activators pricepoints (because the flyer shows what TRU's original price was for them to confirm), but alas, I was hoping to get Leader Megatron out of it. Of course that is up to store discretion...

That said I've spent 145 bucks on Transformers that would have otherwise cost me 250 in two days. Which is insane but whoooo!

I have read that Walmart will not price match % off discounts, only firm prices, as stupid as that sounds. Maybe its true.....it would certainly explain why TRU does the % off sales so much more often now.

Bring TRU's flyer to the Zellers customer service (checkout probably works too) and tell them that you'd like to do a price match. It may or may not work but it's worth a shot. :)

Alternatively you could buy something from TRU and then show them the receipt as well, but I'm pretty sure you'd require a flyer even if you do that.

I didn't mean they were stupid because they didn't give me what I wanted. I meant they were stupid because they refused to acknowledge the advertisement's writing. The person acted like they couldn't read! and did not respond to my attempts to teach them to read the words in the advertisement or even look at the bloody writing, the person just stared off into space....

I just handed the girl the flyer, asked if I could get a... and before I finished she said "price match?" Totally agree. I have had employees give me attitude about the price adjustment, while others did it without a second thought. I still don't understand why people are so varied in this instance, as both Zellers and W-M have the same widely displayed policy.

I have noticed that part-timers tend not to care or give any hassle when compared to the full-time employees. So just try and spot a part-timer, and go to their till lol.

I got the Purple Animated Shockwave a few days ago, $29.99 + 40% off with the flyer - I was lucky as the figure did not scan. It's insane how they cost $49.99 suddenly, I feel sorry for those who are still looking to pick it up.

The theory is that the store you want to price-match does not know the competing store's original price if the flyer is just "% off." If that is advertised on the flyer, they'll match unless it's drastically different from their normal price. Most employees are just following policy... I would really love to know why Zellers is charging so much, even though it's an answer we won't get. I could understand them not offering the set at a "deal" price like in the USA or with their comic-book 2-packs (voyager/deluxe for 35 bucks cheap). But to charge more than the individual pieces are worth blows my mind. Especially for an Activator. Wonder if Zellers is going to do any TF clearance soon; they'll be getting movie toys in too...

I convinced Zellers Abbotsford to give me 30% off after the Chilliwack store did and picked up Leader Megatron for 34.99. And my buddy in Seattle picked me up Wreck-Gar and Samurai Prowl. I'm not getting BA, Oil Slick or the Dinobots so I have every TFA toy I want until Arcee, EM Soundwave, Rodimus and Blackout come out (if they ever do).

Prior to this sale, I had 2 TFA. I now have 20. Damn season 3 for being awesome and making me want them, hooray for this sale not bankrupting me in getting a ton. =) Now for two years of not buying pretty much anything...

Yeah you can return a TRU one at Wal-Mart no problem. Wal-Mart might or might not let you pricematch it, usually they will though.
