A TFcon tradition to play a Transformers movie Saturday evening is coming close. We want to hear from our attendees which movie you'd rather see, the original 1986 Transformers animated film, or Michael Bay's 2007 live action Transformers film! Vote in the poll in this thread!

I would usually say 1986, but with ROTF coming out this year I voted 2007.

I'd say '86. We saw the live action movie last year. Besides, it would be nice to see the '86 movie on a screen bigger than my little 12-inch RCA

Although I am not as lucky as you guys, can attend the TFcon. I think they should play the newer movie instead of old ones. C'mon, it is time to move on.

Move on? I think it is just as relevant to remember the good old days of the Transformers. Just because it is new doesn't mean it is more important.

Oh, just a comment, not saying the old moive is not important. But I think the movie is what makes Transformers alive again.

Ok, that is a fair assessment. However, I still think it is best to show the '86 movie. It is good old fashioned Transformers and I like the idea of exposing younger fans (who may not be as familiar with G1) with some of the cool stuff from back in the day.

1986 version sounds good to me. Actually I think I'm going to go watch it now.

Maybe they should play both movies, 1 after another then, haha~

Yeah, why shouldn't kids today be tramatized by the death of Optimus Prime just like we were? :p

jk. Seriously, while I love Animated and the live-action movie, some things just never go out of style.

Hmm, I guess I'll say TF:TM, but I'd only watch up until Galvatron takes out Starscream (spoilers!) since the film goes kinda downhill from there.

This! It'll give you the experience of watching both movies in half the time...or the experience of watching neither movie in twice the time...I'm not sure which.

The 1986 movie traumatized me. The 2007 movie did less.

I'm with exposing the kids to the old stuff.

1986 movie all the way.
The plot is better, the animation just a cutting edge for its time and the voice acting top notch with out the $100 million budget.
Prime's sacrifice says more than Jazz's loss any day over what the Decepticons are capable of and what the Autobots stand for.

I'm all for 86, but I've got a hinkering for the highway scene from the 2007 movie.

...you know, this occurs to me as a belated idea.

Why not watch something like Transform and Roll Out?

Or even Transwarped?

Well you've got Bumblebee coming so 1986 sounds like a plan.:)

Another comment in line with my "Why not Animated" query.

Couldn't it just be an airing of all 3 parts of MTMTE? That would be pretty different.

That is an excellent idea!

You get to see so many characters, and nobocy dies!

I am only interested in watching a movie so long as we can yell funny and annoying things as it plays. And the 1986 movie is the best for that.

Apologies to those who like to take these sorts of things seriously, but watching the movie with room full of other jerks is some of the most fun I've ever had at a convention. Otherwise I wouldn't care because I could just watch it quietly at home.

Sayonara.

True.

But as a latecomer to G1-related fiction, I do find that MTMTE is pretty well-done.

What cha' gonna do when the 2007 live-action film adaptation of the Transformers franchise, directed by Michael Bay and written by Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman, Transformers Movie runs wild on you!

Meh, '86, you showed the '07 one last year.

Or go COMPLETELY out of left field and show the Japanese Beast Wars movies.

86 is way better than the 2 hour General Motors commercial by Michael Bay. Granted, TF:TM gave TF a new revitalization of fandom and interest. But original 80's TF fandom has not wanned that much, in fact it is grown thanks to TF:TM.

Better to show the 86 as some people might not remember or have seen it. Im obviously talking about the our most recent converts into the TF collector fold. These people who forgot about TF, but thanks to the GM commercial, theyrecall the good ol days of diecast and blocky transformers. the 86 movie will be the shining example of what they should look like.
