In my humble opinion, I think that paypal:
1. is "dicking" you around
2. does not want to get involved
3. does not really care
4. does not know anything about vintage Hasbro Transformer toys
From a purely business or economic point-of-view, paypal:
1. is probably earning
no more than $ 5.00 in commission on the sale.
2. do not want to involve themselves in a dispute over $ 54.00
3. probably consider this amount (commission of $ 5.00 or sale of $ 54.00) to be too small to warrant their upmost attention
4. is more concerned about earning commission from sales than resolving disputes
To put matters into perspective:
1. Is it logical to hire an appraiser (at an estimated $ 10.00+/hr) to examine an item worth only $ 54.00?
2. How hard is it for paypal to reverse the charges? Extremely difficult or extremely easy?
3. Paypal does seem to want to react. They want to let things lie as they are.
Conclusion:
Paypay says: "Buyer beware! I already got my commission. It's your problem Mister. I don't care."
My suggestion, assuming that you used a credit card, is for you to file a dispute with your credit card company. Have the credit card company reverse the charge posted by paypal. This may/will certainly get palpay's attention! Perhaps, they will finally "react" now.
