Re: Keeping only original toys or keeping CHUG/WFC

This might not be a popular opinion but i feel like if you collect too many different transformers lines it becomes really hard to set up a display that doesnt look junky or like a field of action figures. When I was younger I loved the "look" but as i got older i wanted a much cleaner, spaced out display which means less figures and a smaller focus. Very much against collecting things that sit in boxes in a closet.

Im trying to incorporate them into a library of graphic novels that fill 10 full billies with extensions and 40 sideshow/bowen/gentle giant/kotobukiya statues so its hard to balance.

Actually that's a fundamental of collecting for me too - if they stay in boxes too long, it means it's time to sell!

I was really happy when I set up a wall of Billy bookshelves (with a space for a TV by putting two half Billies in the middle) a few years ago and was able to put my TF collection in it fairly neatly.

They are getting rather crowded though, which is why I've been thinking of selling my G1. The last time it got crowded I sold almost all of my Beast Wars and Robots in Disguise (2001) toys (except for the characters that appeared on the TV show). Now it's down to those random toys, TF Animated, or G1 (and some G2) and WFC/CHUG and MP. I'm leaning towards getting rid of G1/G2 next.

Re: Keeping only original toys or keeping CHUG/WFC

Those I have (G1 toys) I keep for the heck of having them as display or just because I have them, but I would not care to try getting any.

The newer versions aren't the same style at all and the trade off is of course the esthetics and the articulation, but I don't suffer that much from the nostalgia bug and I prefer posable figures.

I wouldn't throw any of them out but the newer ones are for sure my go-to.

Glad im not the only one who feels dirty keeping figures in the closet. So far the G1 Animated series cast fills up 6 detolfs so i cant imagine trying to fit in toy versions, other tv series, repaints etc.

Re: Keeping only original toys or keeping CHUG/WFC

I sold pretty much everything pre-War For Cybertron. We've been waiting for near perfect representations of these G1 characters and WFC gave that to us (for the most part). The only figures that I kept from pre-WFC were my Headmasters from Titans Return/ those retro Headmasters and my from God Fire Convoy from Car Robots.
