Show Overveiw:
Well, Comiccon has come and gone for another year. I for one had lots of fun, the 100+ dealer tables were the most we've ever had at a Manitoba show and lots of deals were available to be had.
The celebity guests were all awesome, both at their signing tables and during their panels. I just want to take a moment to single out our guest of honor David Prowse. He was the celebrity MVP for me, I never imagined he would be such a kind, well spoken guest. He took a lot of time to talk to everyone and he really knew his Star Wars! He even commented on the new trilogy in detail in his Q & A session. He's a great personality with a lot of great story's from his career in film and funny tidbits from all the conventions he's attended around the world. His presentation on his career in film on sunday night was great, his flim clips, charisma and charm really carried the presentation. I just wish I could have stayed for the whole presentation but alas my daughter had already spent 12 hours with her grandparents so we had to depart.
His $30 charge for Autograph's was well worth it in every way and he stayed signing almost right until 6pm on Sunday when the other guests had already packed up. Mr. Prowse also shared that Mark Hamil charges $180 for an autograph at conventions, YIKES!
Estimated attendance for the Two day event was over 8000 and will be updated on the Comiccon website when the final tally is in. The Con was a smashing success all the way around.
I'd just like to take a moment to thank Mike Paille(promoter) for his dedicated and tireless efforts in making the event the success that it was. Mike has been doing these shows for a long time, building towards doing the once a year conventions like this and I hope its all paying off for him now. Thanks Mike, without you none of this would have been possible!!!!
Next Toyshow is March 30, 2008 and next years Con is October 24-26. Special guest John DeLance( Q from Star Trek). I can't wait - Rob
