Imagine Consumers Distributing would have been the Amazon of today along with Sears catalogue. Their system was great. Big warehouse in the back, small store front. You handed them that paper with your item number and they would go get it... I guess their management couldn't see into the future...

You are totally right, if they could have just hung on for another decade they might be thriving today.

Feeling super old thinking about Consumers Distributing, explaining to my kids that I had to find out new Transformers toys through commercials & waiting for a paper catalogue to arrive in the mail.

I kept the 1988 (? I think) catalog in one of my collection containers. I'll have to scan it at some point.

Re: Consumer's Distributing Jetfire With Missiles

Consumers was awesome for their catalogs and low prices since they had no floor showcase.

The only problem was their products were tagged with long store-code stickers on it. So was a pain to remove the sticker from a collectors TF box.

[EDIT] false memory conclusion! The sticker only came on my Brainstorm, cause the toy had been returned. Other boxes had NO stickers.
This actually made them better than other stores at the time, who may have had price tags stuck on their boxes.

Re: Consumer's Distributing Jetfire With Missiles

Wonderful childhood memories!

Those toy pages in the Consumers Distributing catalogue are what I thought Heaven would be like! At least at age 8.

I thought there was a thread with links to a site that had scanned those pages? Anyways, back to 2020.
