Is anyone using an Ikea PAX wardrobe as a display cabinet?

I'm thinking about doing this, a single shelf has as much square footage as nearly 2 Detolf cabinets. The PAX cabinets are completely modular and you can use all sorts of different shelves and inserts with them.

You can buy the outer wardrobe container like this:

...and add a couple of glass shelves like these:

Then at the bottom add some of these drawer trays:

...and get one of these tray liners for all your weapons:

The drawer trays will sort of look like this except full of weapons:

You could even separate areas like so:

That gives you some cube storage with small drawers on the right side. Or you could use it to separate some areas for larger figures where the shelf can't go all the way across.

The "Billy" Bookcase is another popular alternative.

Wouldn't 6 of those along a wall be nice.

The Billy is nice but doesn't have the options these wardrobes do. They don't have the glass shelves and tray liners. They're also not nearly as deep, these are over 22 inches deep.

I use Billy Book Case with glass doors, and they are awesome to display. I don't like display that is too deep. You can't really see much of the stuff at the back if the figures are small. And they are cheap.

The PAX actually comes in a shallower solution as well, you can get one that is only 13 inches deep, same as a Billy. And it works the same way as a Billy, you buy the frame and then put it together with any shelves or doors you want to use.

The price on these PAX kills it though, very expensive compare to Billy Book Case, and they seem to take up more room. After all, these are just toys. Pax is better to use as regular closet in my opinion. That is why they are so deep so you can hang your clothes. I mean it is cool if you are okay with the space it takes up and you are okay with the price.

They are definitely deeper than the Billy. Depends on how much space you have, I suppose. The Billy does have the option for glass shelves though. I'd be interested in seeing a few pics of your PAX set-up when you're done.

If you're looking for depth, the Bestas are pretty deep.

Had a Pax once, it was huge. It does have an option for a light on the top (at least the one I did had).

Here are couple pics of my Pax cabinet, so you can get some ideas, it's really big and deep for transformers.
