No.
As much as I love BT/Alt line. No. Last I checked they were found in the children's toy aisle right next to he baby section.
However I will agree to how well painted the diecast and how tough it is.
The only exception to this rule is BT bluestreak which has faded inside my BT/Alt UV Ray protected display.

Re: PIC REQUEST: Alts and MP
I had Alternators Shockblast and I replaced it for the Binaltech version; so gorgeous!

Re: PIC REQUEST: Alts and MP
Just a personal side-note ( since Alternator discussion is rare these days ) :
Alternator Smokie is what sparked my long-dormant fascination with all things Transformer, and is THE item that triggered my on-going collecting habit.
er, ...hobby. I meant "hobby"

While growing up you would think that TFs would evolve into where BT/Alt were headed, instead it devolved into what MPs are currently.
There was a time where there was glimpse of hope, The Human Alliance line. It even included little figure which can ride the toy.
Don't get me wrong though honestly you have to get both. While you're at it check out Human Alliance. Unless of course, the movie robot aesthetic turns you off, you may find, just like I did, that it is the peak of Transformers engineering. Screen accurate, licensed and there's a nod to the old Takara diaclone vision.

Your cheap all plastic unpainted Alternators, yes. Binaltech? Nope.

LOL, whatever, all of the vipers were known for having paint chips on the hoods even before boxes were opened. Paint chipping on the Binaltechs was a common thing.
And they are toys actually, not adult collectibles, but no one said anything about throwing them at a wall did they?

Re: PIC REQUEST: Alts and MP
I skimmed through the thread and I didn't see it mentioned but I want to add that Binaltech/Alternator having the interior means they can be very tricky to transform and they are a little dated compared to the modern MPs. With that said, modern MPs, like Bluestreak are smaller now and transform a little simpler compared to the bigger MPs like Optimus.
I guess what I'm getting at is if you want to mess with it, go with Bluestreak. If you want to put it on a shelf, look and enjoy the details and engineering, go with the Alternator.
You know what? Get both!

You keep thinking that every toy from japan is not meant for kids.
Toys no matter where they come from are just that toys for kids.
btw I also use think that BT/Alt are meant just for adults. No. These were designed with adults, specifically 80's kids in mind but these are by no means adult toys.

Re: PIC REQUEST: Alts and MP
I don't believe that a toy being old should be a factor in determining if it's cool! Respect your elders son!
