Beast Wars 25 Tournament, Match 22 - Semifinal 2: TM Megatron vs. TM Optimus Primal
The Beast Wars 25 Dream Combat Tournament is edging closer to its conclusion; the first Semifinal match was finished yesterday, and the other Semifinal begins now. The poll for this match runs for six days, and short profiles for each combatant have been provided as usual.
In selecting the winner, decide which one is more likely to force their opponent into submission or surrender, or a knockout for at least a 10-second period. Outright destruction is not necessary, though possible.
Please note: this is to determine who would win a fight between the combatants, not which character is more popular.
The winner of this match will advance to the Tournament Final, set for next Sunday, April 4. However, if a draw is reached in this poll, both combatants will be eliminated from the Tournament - in which case, Rampage, the winner of last week's Semifinal match, will automatically be the Tournament winner by default, and next week's match will pit him against the soon-to-be-named mystery 25th combatant.
Megatron (Transmetal) (Predacon) - Predacon Commander motivated by acquiring and using power at any cost. Among the most physically powerful, perhaps the most intelligent Predacon on many levels. As Transmetal Tyrannosaurus Rex, jaws have crushing bite; deploys hip-mounted VTOL turbofans for flight. As robot, has twin shoulder-mounted blaster guns, and pincer-tipped cutlass that doubles as plasma cannon. Cunning master of strategy (short- and long-term), combat, and psychology, but arrogance and unchecked ego could be his undoing.
{Received a bye in Round 1; defeated Tigatron (81.3%) in Round 2, and Blackarachnia (75.0%) in the Quarterfinals.}
Optimus Primal (Transmetal) (Maximal) - Maximal Commander is pound-for-pound one of the most talented of all warriors, though prefers peace. Great intelligence, courage, and strategic and tactical skills. Transmetal form boasts impressive physical strength and fighting capability in all three modes; rocket-powered hoverboard grants speed and maneuverability as robotic gorilla. Armed with hand-held blaster, and over-the-shoulder harness with detachable cannons that double as clubs. Few weaknesses, but may feel a need to gamble his life in order to win.
{Received a bye in Round 1; defeated Inferno (76.5%) in Round 2, and Rhinox (81.3%) in the Quarterfinals.}
This poll concludes Saturday afternoon, April 3 (around 4:05pm ET). The Tournament Final will begin on the afternoon of Easter Sunday, April 4!

Re: Beast Wars 25 Tournament, Match 22 - Semifinal 2: TM Megatron vs. TM Optimus Prim
It's tough to say here, they both are good
I think what tips for monke for me? is the season 2 opener during the wild west standoff, when Primal descends from the heavens and goes into "blast turret" mode, hiding behind his own back and taking out all the enemies
Pretty sure Megs was in that group? and they got "taken aback" as it were
I'm willing to say, if he could overwhelm them all like that, stands to reason he could do it on average, espec if 1 on 1

I too completely thought of that.
Megs blew up S1 Primal, although Primal saved the planet.
When Primal returned as the Miracle TM2, he was definitely the superior power.

Re: Beast Wars 25 Tournament, Match 22 - Semifinal 2: TM Megatron vs. TM Optimus Prim
Primal. TM Megatron frankly never seemed as deadly as his season 1 form, to say nothing of his OP dragon form. He could fly but had no weaponry in flight. His tail dagger/laser doesn't seem as badass as his old railgun and DINO HEAD HAND.
Primal loses his in-flight shoulder cannons and robot mode but he's more manuverable on his hoverboard, could wield a gun, and in robot mode has giant cannon rack.

Yeah, Primal's got this. The riot shield was an add-on from the armory of the Axalon, but the rest of his big damn heroes moment was all him.
TM Megatron looks nice, but he was always more in his element as a chess master, puppeting his minions from behind the veil.

Great call. His tm2 dragon form gave him unrivaled *power* but prior to that, Dinobot was demonstrably his physical equal (or superior). Rhinox likely would have a shot, much less Primal in either form.
Kind of funny tho --- it feels like the transmetal versions of both leaders were power *downgrades*. Whereas rattrap was unquestionably an upgrade, same for tarantulas. Cheetor... Eh, straight swap? Less firepower but flight alone...

Dinobot grazed TM Megatron with that improvised stone hammer/axe before dying, though who knows if that was last-moments adrenaline/ whatever the cybonucleic equivalent is or if he was just that damn strong all the time. Rhinox going evil certainly played all the Preds for fools that one time too.
I'd say Cheetor would be a sidegrade. Primal kept the back cannons but seldom uses them while moving; if he's at all able to still. Trade-offs?

Re: Beast Wars 25 Tournament, Match 22 - Semifinal 2: TM Megatron vs. TM Optimus Prim
And just giving one last heads-up that anyone who hasn't played yet still has a couple days left, before the poll for this match expires on Saturday afternoon. The winner of this battle will advance to the Tournament Finals, which begins on Easter Sunday, April 4. If this match reaches a draw, Rampage will win the Tournament by default, and next Sunday will instead be the bonus match pitting him against the mystery 25th combatant.
