Re: Original Nintendo, I think I'm addicted, Again.

Empty cabinets show up pretty frequently on Kijiji. If you're lucky you can probably find one for like $50. If you're really lucky, it'll have a 2-player/6-button setup that you can reuse. Otherwise you'd have to pick up a pre-build control setup like Summit posted, or build your own. After that you just need an old PC, a CRT monitor and an input interface board and you're set. You could probably keep it under a couple hundred bucks if you do it right.

This is very useful info. I've been dreaming of having an arcade machine my whole life. I've mostly been hunting for people trying to sell them but if I knew I could potentially pick up a cabinet that cheap and easily I could have just worked on piecing together my own.

I'm more interested in having a machine of any of the various Capcom fighting games I loved in the arcades (the few times I got to go). Man... A Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alha II or X-Men VS Street Fighter cabinet in the room would be a life long dream come true.

Oh man, it took me at least 2 straight months to get all the software working together properly and to track down all the games and images/videos.

As for cost, almost nothing:
FTP access to download media: about $75
membership to Hotfile to download games: $9
1 tibibyte hard drive: $55
all other computer equipment: free donations from friends
Hyperspin software: free from website
wood for arcade cabinet: will be about $50 or so
television for cabinet: will be $350 or so. Or I could use an old CRT my friend is giving away for free.

I have all those games on my cabinet, cost next to nothing.

Thats awesome. Its something that is very creative.

I've decided that if i'm going to have the effort of putting in the USB Copynes for archiving purposes. I might as well mod the hell out of a nes. Or at the least make it into something pratical. As to make the whole PowerPak experince easier.

Overclocking your Nes

I have a slight concern about heat. So I may have to wire in a Fan or someother method.

Unlock Lockchip (10Player), so I can easily Play All Regions and other stuff.

I will mostlikly use the alternative "Cicylone" as it is packaged with the PowerPak

Remote Restart, vs hitting the Restart Buttom on the console. As I will be using the PowerPak and other muliti-carts.

I have to read up on this more. As I'm not sure if I'll beable to Overclock with the Copynes. But I'll figure that out.

EDIT: After a quick review of how the Copynes plugs into the Nes' Mainboard. I am almost certain that I will not beable to overclock the CPU. Since the CPU must be removed and Placed on the Copynes Board. But then again you could probly still wire it from the new board to the ppu. I'm going to have to discuss this with some of my more geekwise friends. Really not wanting to fry, set fire etc, to my nes and the $70 Copynes.

Re: Original Nintendo, I think I'm addicted, Again.

I have yet to see a cabinet up in my area. There was one a couple hours away for a decent price. But I couldn't get it down to me unfortunately.

I had found this site.. they have some of the cheaper options I've seen.

Guys....build a cabinet, it's nothing. There are even loads of PDF blueprints online to base it on complete with measurements.

Re: Original Nintendo, I think I'm addicted, Again.

One of these days I'm going to build my own cabinet and play all the cool games like SF II, Killer Instinct, TMNT and Golden Axe

I'll have to look into that, thanks. But I've never been much of a handyman, so that might be too much for me. XD
