Re: Why buy a Knock off?
If Hasbro nor Takara produce it...its a knock off and not really a Transformer IMO. It's like calling RC Cola, Coca Cola. 2 completely different items. What really sucks are people, I'm sure, are selling these loose or atleast their accessories as G1 originals. I REALLY hate knock offs. To make it even worse people are paying $60+ for a fake Transformer?!?!? WTF?

^^what he said pretty much word for word.^^
i usually only buy a k/o either for custom parts/fodder or the "novelty" of it.i personally find it highly un-ethical to be calling a knock off a "unofficial reissue" and to charge the same or even more than the "real" original would cost.i do like the idea that knock offs offer characters/bots to people who would otherwise neither be able to afford or find the authentic versions, but again, don't call them "un-official re-issues".
call a spade a spade

From his site:
Local Pickup is available in Toronto, Canada.
Store Name "Dream Music"
Address: 469 Dundas St. West
Toronto, ON M5T 1G8
I think some people said they saw some TFs in the window at that location. But he might not have them all in stock, so if you want something probably best to drop him a line to make sure he'll have it ready for you.

The minty factor of KOs appeals to me.
Anyone have feedback on buying online from the KO seller?

Re: Why buy a Knock off?
The only KOs I buy are the Hot/Rodimus related ones or the SUPER WACKY stuff. The KO G1 remakes are pointless. At that price you might as well get the real deal LOOSE on ebay.

Re: Why buy a Knock off?
It depends on the individual. For me it has to do with the KO in question. Some Uber KO, like the Clear G1 Primes, Red Mirage, Black primes will never be made by Takara or Hasbro. so i buy them.
Some KO are released in poor numbers. Especially the older ones from the 90's. I have a Metroplex sized Fort Max and Scorponok. Worth quite a bit. Very rare. Plus they are not made very well and are fragile. Which jsut increases its value to me.

Oh, and as for why a KO? I think mainly for those hard to find/hard to find in good shape items. That and kitbash fodder (if we're talking classics KO for example), or to get missing accessories. That and sometimes KOs are slightly remolded (I'm thinking classics again here) with features you wish hasbro had...like a deluxe classics megatron that actually has a right hand instead of that gun-hand.

Wow, for those prices you may as well be buying the encores!

LOOSE being the key word. Or FLOPPY. Paint chipped, incomplete, stickers falling off, etc. And NOT the same price. A boxed KO Shockwave goes for $95,LOOSE original Buy it now prices on E-bay today(March 27,2010)-$150,$140,$175.And theres a MIB Ungraded for $1600.00.
and MIB Grimlock is going for $175. Got mine for $40. Thers a LOOSE one for $125.
