Re: Why buy a Knock off?
For the same reason that some people spend a large sum of money on some art deco lamp from the 60s that is no better than a modern lamp.
Because they have the desire and the means.

Re: Why buy a Knock off?
well, I recently bought a KO G1 Grimlock and paid about...50 or so
my reason? price versus a complete in box ORIGINAL is through the roof...this gives me a figure that - while being a complete knock off - does give me G1 Grimlock. Not to mention some of the higher-grade KOs are still good figures; especially if the plastic is decent enough.
Only other reason I'd buy em is so if I do a kitbash I won't feel as bad as I would destroying a the real deal. ^^

Anything over 20-30 is way too much for a knock off in my opinion.

Re: Why buy a Knock off?
I think in the future, a lot of these 'perfect' G1 knockoffs will be looked at the same as reissues
Hasbro G1 reissues are basically the same quality as these new knockoffs. Same price too

Re: Why buy a Knock off?
Yeah I would agree with the statements about the quality of some of these KOs. I have KO G1 Prime that is very good. I would further add that the only way you can buy some figures, like Wheeljack and Sunstreaker, without paying an arm and a leg, is to go the KO route.

Re: Why buy a Knock off?
The only time I ever buy knockoffs is for figures I will NEVER attain in my life. ie. black G1 prime, red mirage, blue bluestreak (pleasepleaseeplease) orange devi, etc

Re: Why buy a Knock off?
I just got all five KO G1 Dinobots in the mail today, they're awesome and a fraction of the price of the originals. I still have my original G1 Grimlock and next to the KO IT'S IDENTICAL.Other than the fact that the KO is factory fresh. I also still have my Shockwave MIB from my childhood but I'll buy the G1 Boxed KO for display and just to have a nice fresh one.I also have the KO Wheeljack,Optimus, all six Carded Constructicons and Mirage.I'd recommend the to everyone.
I guess the point is that these G1 Boxed KOs are a whole different type of bootlegs. They ARE NOT the cheap, breakable KOs from the dollar store.
They may not be reissues but do deserve the title "Replica".
