Beast Hunters: Worst Line Ever?

So there I was in TRU, staring down a full wall of 10 dollar BH Deluxes on the pegs, and from Wave 1 to 3 I could not for the life of me find one that stood out or "looked cool".

I collected almost the entire Prime line, but these figures just look plain ugly, from the "updated" core characters to all the new dragons, most of which you just stand up on their back legs to transform. The colour choices they made were just awful too... so garish with more than a splash of Dayglo on most figs.

The only exceptions for me and this line are a few Voyagers (Shockwave, Ultra Magnus and BH Prime all are awesome), and Cyberverse (I collected all non-beast Commander and Legion, plus single carded Terrorcons, cause uh, G1).

I should mention I don't have a single Beast Wars figure in my 1000+ Transformers...

What do you guys think? Is BH for BW fans or small children or what? What's the appeal?

Re: Beast Hunters: Worst Line Ever?

I agree.. I don't "get" the BH line either...

The only one I have, because its' "beast mode" accessory can be removed to becomes a normal vehicle, is Smokescreen.

Otherwise, I think Predaking and Ripclaw are interesting looking as cool dragons.

The Voyager Optimus Prime truck looks cool as a vehicle, but I really don't care for all the "beast mode" attachments.

It's not horrible, it's just the next step of that subline. Some good, some bad.

Was the original PRIME line any better with it's Cyberverse Mech Armors and shakey distribution?

Re: Beast Hunters: Worst Line Ever?

I give it a "meh". It's not terrible. I have Ripclaw, Dreadwing and Smokescreen in Deluxe and I dig them. Not great, but not terrible. I also want to grab Skystalker, but mostly cause I like the dragon modes, (though some non-dragon Predacons would have been nice). Voyager wise I have and enjoy Optimus, Ultra Magnus and Grimwing. The only figure I bought that I think is bad is Laserback, and I only paid $6 for him so I don't feel too hurt about it.

Definitely not the best line they've ever done, but it has some limited appeal.

Re: Beast Hunters: Worst Line Ever?

I see what everyone is say... I for one grow up with g1 and am now relieving the past as I can now afford to have them LOL, I have a 10 year son and as he likes g1 toys he much rather have Prime or BH toys , I say WTF hehe but looking at it now , my son sees the prime and bh toys everyday on tv , online in books and in stores where G1 toys he see's me buying them likes them, he's seen every episode but he does not get the same feeling ... I for one don't like prime and bh I've see some shows and I shake my head but my sons glued to the tv. go figure but think its a generation thing.

Yes. Yes it was! At least we had mostly realistic alt modes, fairly screen accurate bot modes, good colour choices.

As for distribution, I don't consider that as a factor in "how good" a line is. We all managed to get the toys we wanted to collect in the end, whether online or from local "importers" from the States... once we filled in the missing characters from the roster with Japanese AM figures!

Also, Prime First Edition was especially good!

Re: Beast Hunters: Worst Line Ever?

Of the actual Beast Hunters line I bought

Smokescreen
Supreme Predaking
Lazerback
Ripclaw
Skylynks
Darksteel
Ultra Magnus
and Shockwave

Of those, I love my beast bots and the rest of the cast were really good.

Looking at the full list including the main cast with spikes, it is weak but pickign up only show characters and beasts I think the line was amazing.

So I disagree with you but only becuase I limited the purchases.

I think the only exception would be BH Soundwave and only because he comes with a Ravage, otherwise yes, they are bad.

And as for the voyagers, the only nitpick I have is that BH Optimus Prime looks like a 4 year old in a 6 year old's snowsuit. He seems lost in all that bulky armour. But to be fair, it is consistent with the show, so I guess it's a design flaw rather than a toy flaw.
