Here's just my personal speculation, but I'd say the more likely scenario is that they worked it in to the story that Megatron simply rejected the name the humans gave him and just went back to what he knows is his real name.

I thought the AoE Galvatron looked more like Megs anyway. Interesting and troubling. We shall see, but like the saying goes, All Hail Megatron!
