Hardhead

Is the Hardheaded I saw in Wal-Mart the other day that was a G1 reissue the same as the one that came out maybe two or three years ago?

Re: Hardhead

Mostly. Different face and different colors but otherwise the same toy. It's G1-ish packaging, not a reissue of the G1 toy.

Hasbro TitansReturn on the left,

The molds that came out 2-3 years ago is correct.
Updated versions not g1.

Yes and no. It's the same figure engineering with some cosmetic differences (especially the head) to make it more closely align with the character designs used in the Headmasters anime series.

The most obvious differences for Hardhead are that his head features a mouth instead of a faceplate and the tint of some of his colors is slightly darker

I got them because I didn't get the TR versions and because I kind of enjoyed Headmasters in an ironic "it's awful so I like making fun of it" sort of way. Though now I do somewhat find myself intrigued by the slightly more aggressive sculpts of the TR Autobots' heads (especially Brainstorm's)

This is quite nice. I think the price increase is stilly, but I am quite surprised by how detailed the new editions are. I like the shades of the decos better across the board. Still can't get used to Brainstorm with lips though lol

"I think the price increase is stilly"

I've seen none of these on the shelf, I wish they increased the price more or order/produce more.

Re: Hardhead

It was $50 for the one I saw, and I thought that was a lot.

Re: Hardhead

Good grief.

It's a nice toy, but the money is going towards the deco and packaging at that rate.

I've seen various folks claim plastic is actually incredibly cheap right now. I won't pretend I know the details or stats to argue whether or not Hasbro's price increases are related to rising production costs, as per the recent conference call. Ofc our prices went up prior to that and sounds like we can be expecting more.

It is impossible for me to believe that these same toys from 2018 are $13 more to produce now. $33 deluxes, on reissues of three year old toys that sold for $20. Even with fancy packaging. Shrug.
