Re: My Order from China has been in limbo since April 8th

Just chill bro. The time frame for anything from China is between 3 weeks and 4 months (4 months being really extreme). You'll get your stuff, just be patient. I had something ship in January and it arrived it April.

Should I try reaching out to the seller for an update?
Who is the seller?

Maybe a board member here has dealt with the same seller, so we might be able to provide you with assurance or concerns regarding the seller.

(That is, if it's not against board guideline to mention the seller... but there are numerous threads about specific sellers or on-line stores, so I figure it should be okay to mention...)

Me, I have had eBay purchases from mainland China take anywhere between 3 weeks and 3 months. I always keep tabs on when the cutoff date is for opening a PayPal dispute, just in case.

Re: My Order from China has been in limbo since April 8th

Even before the world ended, if I chose the economical shipping method, I found it wasn't uncommon for packages to take 4-6 weeks to arrive. Sometimes they arrived sooner. Sometimes later.

For me, there's always a black out period around when the package gets handed over to the Canadian carrier. There's no news until it arrives in country. During that time, my guess is it's on a container ship crossing the ocean or stuck in the middle of a canal.

Usually, after 6 weeks, I send an e-mail to the seller. They'll check up to make sure the package hasn't been stalled at a post-office. One time, that happened and the seller had to take the package back from the post office and resend it. Total time for the package to arrive was 6 months. It was a well known seller I've dealt with dozens of times, so I wasn't worried.

I believe you have 90 days to open a case, so give the seller 89 days before you start balls rolling to cover your own butt.

These obviously aren't normal times, so you have to be patient.

Thanks for the feedback all, I actually received the package today!

I got a flood of tracking updates all at once, basically it reported that it flew from China, arrived in Canada, cleared customs and went out for delivery all in the matter of minutes.

Glad you received it.

Many things from China on ebay are fairly decent, if one checks the ratings and reviews for the positive feedback. Also good to check the negative reviews and gauge if it is warranted.

That being said, there are some sellers, not just from China, who sell many small things properly to generate positive reviews, and then put up big $$ items to scam people. I have had this happen a few times, but Paypal is usually very good about taking care of buyers in such cases.
