Re: is this a scam?

Craig list and kijiji are the last places you should look into, you are better off purchasing from a local or online store to be on the safe side.

I'm sorry but I don't get what you think is a scam?

I see a dealer trying to get people to look at his stuff by putting $1 in the heading thinking people will bite. In reality it looks like a dealer with dealer prices, and nothing more.

Re: is this a scam?

For Japanese figures, you get better deals and peace of mind buying direct from HLJ or Amiami. Ship with SAL or EMS to avoid import duty. Never ship Fedex.

For Hot Toys, go with Canadian shops like Urban Samurai or Super Power.

Here's the problem. He has no business name, no retail store, no way of finding this guy in the future. Oh, and he requires a pre-order deposit before you get your figure. A 50% deposit on a Hot Toys figure is like $100! What if that item is expected to arrive more than 45 days after you pay? Just outside the time frame you have to dispute the paypal payment.

Would you give this guy $100 to see if he may or may not get back to you when your item comes back in "stock?"

I would personally go with a more established retailer.

Isn't the name Playland or Toyworld?

In this day and age no retail location is not unusual. The lack of information outisde of the figs/prices is worrying, but that doesn't mean it is a scam. Granted though I wouldn't part with any money without further information.

Re: is this a scam?

Hey, I just started a company called Ponziland Shillworld. I made up that name JUST NOW! I'm taking preorders for an awesome new high end product. You just need to drop a $100 deposit in cash or paypal. I'll even write you a receipt on this napkin here. Totally legit! Items are expected to arrive in about 3 to 4 months. Order now to avoid disapointment! You can trust me, really! Give me your money NAO!

Re: is this a scam?

I (in past with private pre orders) have simply paid with paypal and kept in contact with seller if the item hadn't arrived Before the 90 days (visa as I don't cater to Paypal or ebays BS over the days or the fees they charge to process a claim, Visa's rules are simple and they have not failed to refund 100%) I contact the seller to refund my deposit and then re apply it as a new sale and wait another 85 days,... bit of a pain but it works,.... if the vendors unwilling to do this ( I understand delivery release dates are sometimes off) I shop elsewhere,..... mostly BBTs or other vendor for pre orders is another route,.. a trusted seller.
