Not insanely ridiculous, but yes lots of Canadians are offering him for about $50 - $60.
Personally I don't really care though.
It is a $40 to $60 figure at retail, it just so happens that it is on sale at Wal-Mart for $20 here in Canada. People need to remember that it is not "on sale" everywhere in the world. The community sometimes gets this weird sense of entitlement that just because it is a low price in one place, it needs to be everywhere else too.
It is the way this hobby works, people get stuff on sale (or even free in the case of Aveo Swerve) and try to sell it for more. The sad thing is that at the end of it all, the seller won't make much money at all and IMO is a waste of time. Lets break it down:
Sold for $50
Paid lets say $23 after tax at Wally World
Pay Ebay lets say $4 in fees
Pay Paypal $3 in fees
Pay Paypal another $0.50 in fees to transfer to bank account.
That leaves the seller with an extra whopping $19.50. But when you take into account gas and time, you really make nothing at all.
Let's say you waste $3 on gas (or bus fare) and then another 2 hours of time getting to the store, waiting in line to buy it, going home, taking photos and putting them on the computer, making the ebay listing, packing the damn thing up, driving to the Post office etc. Even if you did all of that in 2 hours, you still would have made more money if you just worked at a minimum wage job like McDonalds for 2 hours.
Basically scalping toys = fail.
