A couple of us went back in 2012 I think. Not much toys. But they do the show like every 3 months, so the dealers could vary. The show we went to didn't really have any toys.

I am trying out Nippon Yasan too since I don't have to prepaid for my preorder like AnimeExport and there is almost 30% discount. HLJ only have 15% discount on their Bumblebee pre-orders... which s very disappointing... it used to be 20% for their Masterpiece preorder. HLJ is not getting my business if they don't continue with that 20% discount.

I went early last year, and it was definately not worth the time nor the few bucks of entrance fee.
It was mostly computer used parts junk. Only had 2 tables that had any toys, and not much Transformers. Shows like Retro & Relevant or Metrocon were literally 100 times better if not more.

I'm going as well, along with Crocheticon and thebobokat. We're driving down.

And on that note, we do still have space for one more (two if the people in the back seat don't mind being cozy for a long time) to share the expense of a hotel and gas if anyone is interested.

I know. HLJ used to have 20% off the Japanese MSRP on almost everything, but then they started cutting down on their discount to 15% off, some are only 10% off, sometimes even just 5% off. I think it started when the exchange rate started moving a year or so ago. But how do they compete domestically in Japan?

EDIT:
Amiami posted their MP-21 pre-order too. They are selling at 4850JPY so Nippon Yasan is still cheaper.

I believe they always focused on selling to people outside of Japan as their main market. I kind of remember them opening up orders to Japan residents in the last 5 years. There was a special post, and I recall being surprised people in Japan were not able to order before that from them.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

True. But also in Japan people can order products directly from the manufacturers.

Don't get me wrong, I like Nippon Yasan. I have used them many times before, mostly for the Macross DX Chogokin stuff. I have found them to be a bit slow at processing orders sometimes, their shipping prices can be a bit on the high side and if you have a problem with your purchase, it can be a bit of a hassle to get it fixed. Overall though they are quite reliable and a good place to shop online.

I still remember the days when HLJ only had their 5% Early Bird discount.

DO NOT GO to the pop culture show at the Scottish center.
I went to the last one...Looooong drive from Coquitlam and I had a healthy chunk of change burning a hole in my pocket.

prices were a high as ebay and the selection was very poor.
