I saw this posted on another forum:

Ok so I have worked at Toys R Us for a few months now. Well one day these transformer toys went off for no reason when I walked past. Please note their not the kind with the movment sensors in them. But I just brushed it off and I went about my business. Fast forward a few weeks and it happend again. Still just thinking its nothing I just keep going about my business. Then today what you know the dang transforers went haywire again. So I thought to myself I have to see whats going on. Well as I was inspecting them my walkie talkie went off and at the same time so did the transformer. Then it hit me. These things are recieving radio signals. But how could that be as its a push button activated toy. My only conclusion as someone is moniting us through Optimus Prime preskool transforemers. Don't belive me try it yourself. I can set off at least 5 optimus primes with my walkie.
Isn't this kind of strange???
Here is the toy im talking about

Re: Optimus Prime Toy Responds To Walkie-Talkie
I imagine that there's some diodes or wiring that are sensitive to the frequency and just sets it off.
Or.... my kids stuff used to just go off in the middle of the night when the batteries got low. haha. Over the years about 3 or 4 toys got the midnight eviction out the door because of that.

Re: Optimus Prime Toy Responds To Walkie-Talkie
Any poorly shielded electronic device with a speaker can pick up stray radio waves. Many years ago I had a pair of really cheap computer speakers and i could pick up the local radio station. I opened them up to find they had no shielding (with they are supposed to).
