Re: Gimmicks as a child

it sucked losing an accessory for the old ones,
i can only imagine how much it would suck
losing a headmaster.

Re: Gimmicks as a child

Never cared for über articulation. That's what GI Joe figures were (and still are) for. As long as the end result looked like a robot and could at least move the arms up and down, I was (and still am) happy. I liked (and still like) electronics, all the -masters (Head- / Power- / Target-), combining figures and baseformers.

Re: Gimmicks as a child

I don't know if they were so much gimmicks as just cool bonuses to the main gimmick of transforming, but I really loved it when combiners & triple-changers emerged. Beyond that, I can't say I was a fan of sparks, electronics (except for Omega), jumpstarters, Masters, etc.

I liked soundwave/Blaster's cassettes. I thought they were the best!

Re: Gimmicks as a child

Growing up I was a big fan of the Head/target/power master figures, until the head or gun just became a little brick with a barrel though.

Re: Gimmicks as a child

I wish all transformers could have light up eyes. I don't mean flashing blinky lights, I mean a steady burning glow with a discrete off switch. It wouldn't be that hard, just cast an LED as a neck ball-joint, then cast the head in clear with paint over everything but the eyes. While they're at it, if there is room, a simple sound chip of the transforming sound effect (and nothing else) would be fried gold. If they could standardize the electronic package (blue LED for Autobots, red LED for Decepticons) it should work out cheaper in mass production. I mean, they can do these things with almost desposible fast-food toys, it can't be that hard...

Re: Gimmicks as a child

I've always been impatient...I'm a little better now but I got rid of a couple Binaltech's becaused they frustrated me.

So as a child, despite owning the likes of Jazz and Optimus Prime, I remember the Jumpstarters being my favourites for a while. I think I even wore TwinTwist's spring-loaded action out.

Man, those guys are pretty lame in comparison to these days...
