Re: Transformers Studio Series 86 Voyager Ironhide Robot Mode In-Hand Images
Siege had a big hammer/gun thing, ER had a peashooter pistol and a big riot shield/top of the van

The Earthrise mold of the van bros seems like they were intended to be the toy-homage with this being the cartoon-accurate.

Same level-ish of complexity, same amount of plastic. Less paint. Smaller weapon, didnt the ER version have a big axe thing?
At least the in hand pictures make it look not as horrible as that first cropped pic. He still has popeye forearms.
The comparison pic of Ironhide next to WreckGar, another voyager, is embarrassing.

Can't believe now still people asking question like this:
Officially: it's all about part counts.
unofficially: it's all about how much Hasbro want to screw u.

Re: Transformers Studio Series 86 Voyager Ironhide Robot Mode In-Hand Images
There are good things about this Ironhide, but with prices going up and moving this figure into the voyager class he should be a lot closer to perfect:
- The headsculpt isn't great
- there is a mishmash of red paints/plastics that don't match
- those blue plastic nubs on the roof in van mode just seem lazy,
- those hinges sticking out in van mode (it might be more passable if it was just one hinge bump per side) - this is not great engineering in my opinion.
- lack of a yellow stripe seems like a missed opportunity to add more colour to the character and it is classic element
It has some extra weight in plastic and a little bit more engineering, but I don't think there is enough value for the money with this figure. I might buy it if it happens to hit a decent sale, but it doesn't really feel like an upgrade from Siege or Earthrise. It would be just trading one problematic figure for another. For people without an Ironhide it certainly is a viable option.

Re-LOL.
ER Ironhide barely transforms, half of the vehicle detaches by pure engineering lazyness.

^^^ This. Those hinges are unacceptable in vehicle mode. If he turns into a shelf warmer and goes on liquidation, I would consider picking him up. For sure not at full retail.

The yellow stripe and the proper light-blue windows will be added ...in the Buzzworthy Bumblebee repainted figure (so that Hasbro can get collectors to buy this mold twice)
