10M$, are you joking? This movie was 150 $Million!
Heck, that's $37.5 for every year the Transformers lay deactivated in the crashed Autobot ship on Earth in the original Transformers!

over budget? no.... their budget was 150 Million, if they went over that, that's fine, cause the film has made 250 million in the first week, so they made what they paid, and are earning even more.

Um... 10 million is about the amount that SMALL movies get.
Transformers had a budget of 150 million, which is LOW BUDGET by blockbuster standards in Hollywood.
They went a bit over on the CG work, yes. But it's still cheap compared to Spiderman 3.
The budget was 150 million. That's been stated several times and you can look it up.

They weren't necessarily in the black after the first week.
Marketing costs are VERY expensive and can cost 10s, if not over a 100 million I believe (between TV ads, posters, etc)
Although they had Hasbro to shoulder some of the costs.

In the blacks?? after the first 3 days they made their money back over times 2. they where no where near the blacks. they made a killing. A small portion of that money was my.
I when to see the movie twice. once on tuesday and once on saturday. not to mention all the toys i bought. i also bought the PSP game and ordered the PC version because the PSP version lasted 30min of play.
However, i do know they did go over budget. even if the budget was $150M. think about all the tanks and jets Micheal bay blow up. They where not cheap. do you really think the military have more jets and tanks for him to blow up for a second movie? who is going to flip the bill? Hasbro? $150M is the cost of 1 F-15 eagle and 3 quarter of a F-22 raptor (starscream). and only well trained air force pilot are able to fly those. they are not cheap either. It cost Micheal over $50M just to shoot the scene of all the F22-raptors flying over new york. and that was consider a discount pricing.

Re: Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
I'm fairly certain the tanks blown up on screen were either set pieces or a post production FX. The destruction of the jets were all done in post. I haven't read any report on the film being over budget, but I don't think it really matters. A buddy of mine told me once that 'if you put the Transformers logo on a piece of turd, someone will buy it'. The producers aren't going to spend an exhorberent amount of money into a sinking ship. They'll do everything they can too make sure there's a return on an investment, that includes wise spending.

Re: Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
I seriously doubt the US military would allow their jets and tanks to be blown up for a movie. As ohnaji points out above, it would be set pieces and special effects. If they can make a car transform in post, I'm sure they can handle an explosion or two.

Agreed on both of those effect responces... Now lets try to keep the thread on topic, or sadly, I'm going to need to close my own thread.
