Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
I had asked Super_Megatron about this and got an opinion from him, and I also asked Aaron Archer about this, and got nothing back, and now I want your opinion on this.
For the second Transformers movie, what do you think will happen with the current CG model designs? We all know Megatron will change, but what about Starscream and the Autobots? Do you think it would be a good or bad idea if they change? How would this effect toys? Here's some Pro's and Cons:
Pros to Changing Designs:
-New and Different Toys
-New look and feel to the characters.
Cons to Changing Designs:
-More money put out
-connection between 1st and 2nd will need to be explained.
-----
Pros to Keeping current designs:
-cheaper on cost in overall budget since the models were very costly
-a feel from the characters that would bring you back to the first film.
Cons to Keeping current Designs:
-re release of 1st movie figures? or make new molds of same designs?
-nothing will be totally new besides new decepticons.
Tell me what you think.

Re: Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
for the Autobots, the recurring ones should keep the current designs. Starscream has room for change, and megatron should just be Galvatron then lol
But ui see no reason why they should change the others unless on another planet

Re: Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
The toy lines had such a good potential to possibly sell two times as much, only if the toys resembled a little more....who am I kidding, if they resembled a lot more like their G1 counterparts. Also, with a lower CG cost on the characters, that would also free up more money for more characters.
Nobody really needs 6 different versions of a movie character. You could probably sell more if you have fewer different versions of one character and more different characters in general (especially those in the movie).

I don't want change on the robots, but probably they will change them. They will try to make tons of money off the movies, including their toys with new design.

Re: Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
Perhaps they'll just repaint them, the biggest con would to remodeling would be the cost and would leave little room for new characters. I think they could always just try different molds (ie a leader prime that transforms properly, a leader starscream). At most there would be 5 redone m$olds, OP, Ratchet, Ironhide, BB, and SS. I'd much rather see newer characters and new toys, I'm going to bet they keep their models for the next movie.

Re: Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
here's another thought. Let's say they lost the GM license... what do you think would happen then? There's got to be a change if that was to happen. but doubtful that it will.

Re: Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
Looking at the other thread about DLX Arcee it looks like they already got a CG version of her so she could potentially be in the next movie...I have to say she actually looked pretty good, will be even more impressive in action.

Re: Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
I'm fairly certain all the Transformers will have some sort of redesign. I don't believe the producers want to give us more of the same. Characters like Bumblebee will probably have more subtle changes, while characters like Starscream will probably undergo more dramatic changes. I think any sort of change will depend on how much visual post productions FX have improved. ILM has set a pretty high benchmark when it comes to Giant robots, I'm sure they are already trying to outdo themselves.

Re: Transformers 2 Character models: What do you think???
Mark my words I think they're going to keep all the autobots the same, adding a few, bring in new decepticons other than SS & megs (galvs?), but have 'cybertronian' modes of everybody and have the movie full of flashover/flashback sequences to events on cybertron, thus fulfilling all the positives of the 2 options (i.e. tons of toys to make, etc.).
