So I gather I'm not the only one who recently received this incredible artifact! How about we discuss it a bit?
There was quite a lot of packaging layer to get through to get to the book but I think, on the whole, it's totally worth it. The case is pretty impressive, though feels a little flimsier than I would have liked.
The book has some gorgeous illustration and, while I haven't read it all in details, a lot of the stuff is great. Onyx Prime is pretty amazing. There's also an interesting explaination of Transformers 'genders' too. Apparently there's one 'female' for every twelve 'male', copying the ratio of the Thirteen Primes. The Quintesson invasion is pretty fantastic stuff, and I really like the way they took over. That giant scene from the War for Cybertron is pretty amazing, with Metroplex, Bruticus and Devastator and even Lugnut showing up!
Also Mecury is pretty much Pinkie Pie leading a gaggle of shifters!
She's kinda crazy.
Other stuff...not so great. There's still a bunch of rather odd editing mistake here or there. For exemple Amalgamous Prime is described in one paragraph as having a scythe as his artifact of power, but then later it says it's the Transformation Cog (the original one).
And the big one... that timeline is way too short. Even if we're talking millions of years, since these are Transformers, it feels RIDICULOUS that Orion Pax (now apparently Thirteen's reincarnation) lived alongside Predacons!
I think it would have been far more interesting if the Predacons had appeared between the battle with Unicron and the War of the Primes, for exemple. It also leaves no room for a lineage of Primes to form since, after the Thirteen create life on Cybertron the only Prime is the elected Sentinel Zeta and then after that it's straight to Optimus. Doesn't work at all with that whole 'what it takes to be a Prime' idea that was supposed to be so important to Transformers Prime.
I really feel like there really isn't enough 'room' left in that History for more stories to potentially exist. It's a tad...strict.
