Storage unit question?

Hello all,

I would like folks input on the following concerning storage units.

Right now, I have a storage unit that is inside that is A/C, heated and humidity control/fans.

I am looking at an outside drive unit, that is heated and humidity control/fans.

Is this safe to storage my transformers in totes there?

Both units have in-floor heating at 5c.

Thanks for your time.

Re: Storage unit question?

If it's climate controlled, you should be fine. I would suggest to ensure everything is up off the floor though, or in totes that are solid so if there's any sort of water on the ground (flood, water coming into the unit, etc.), it does not damage what is stored in the unit.

Re: Storage unit question?

I would personally advise against storage that doesn't have AC, especially if the temperature exceeds 40C (the max temp used in most product testing)...I wouldn't even want my stuff in a box over 30C...the warmer the temps, the greater the chance for damage/creep/warping/etc...now add in moisture (condensation when the temp drops after a cold day) and you're looking at possibilities for mold, rust, etc...

As Ozrein says, climate control is pretty much required for collectables.

Re: Storage unit question?

I would personally sell the items if I can't have them in my house or apartment. Storing them so I couldn't enjoy them, meh, I'd have to think hard about selling them unfortunately...
