Sorry for your lost.
Hey thanks for reaching out. Yep, I've met with both management and the police, all in the last 24 hrs.

They DID catch the four perps on cam, but of course they were all masked up. They hit about nine lockers.

The short version of the story is that the Property Management office was broken into and the master keys were all stolen. They had a locksmith re-key the residential units immediately and the lockers were rekeyed after, but alas, in that time, some lockers were hit.

This makes a STRONG case for all condos to have 24/7 security and/or a concierge at the very least.

I only got my new locker key yesterday and so I only found out about this yesterday afternoon. Would have been nice if management had been checking while they were rekeying, so I'd have known earlier, but that ship has sailed. Found a boxcutter left behind in my locker, so that's been ziplocked and submitted.

At the end of the day, thank goodness no one's unit was entered while someone was there or asleep, and no one was hurt, and yeah, we're just talking about expensive robots, but I think it speaks to bigger issues as well, of security, violation, trespassing, and basically invading someone's (allegedly) safe space. It's concerning. Thanks again for reaching out. - Mike

It's likely the thieves would try to sell off the stolen items at local pawn shops.

Something to advise to the police and the local area pawn shops, they wouldn't want to buy stolen stuff since it's criminal proceeds.

Agreed, I've already contacted places like Treehouse, who buy 3P Transformers for cash. Most toy stores and comic shops I know who buy things usually have at least one "buyer" on staff who has a good BS detector.

Even when I worked in comic and toy retail at my LCS, nothing would set off red flags and my spidey sense quicker than someone trying to very quickly unload something for cash who clearly had no expertise on the items. Usually a few gently probing questions would make things clear, because sure, sometimes people do sell things for family members or whatever, but just as often the dude would grab the stuff and bolt out of the store.

Sounds like Property Management should have informed all residents immediately once they knew the master keys were stolen, sounds like they might be liable for things going missing from storage?

This. They?ll probably tell you and insist you go through insurance. Based on what happened insurance may go after them. Hopefully at minimum you?ll get your money back and maybe building management will get their heads out of their rears.

One would hope! It's going to be interesting to see what kind of value I can actually prove the items were worth. Obviously, *WE* know what a TFCON Chicago 2014 exclusive is, but I'm not sure how that translates into Insurance Speak.

And ugh, was gutted last night when I found a clear sword on the floor of said locker. Sure enough, it was from 1994/5 G2 Laser Rod OP. So they got the tiny box with both Laser Rod Prime and my 1988 Power Master OP as well. And yeah that's only two more, but I got those guys back in University from the fine folks on the alt.toys.transformers newsgroup, for those of you who remember the ol' Usenet days. Dang.

if you can try submitting sold listings on ebay, i have heard that is a good way to get the value of collectibles that are insured.

I will keep an eye out for listings from Toronto on facebook and kijiji.

Thank you! Much appreciated.

Another gut-punch today as myself and a Detective Constable were looking at my locker today... noticed that FansToys Sovereign was missing too. My first FansToys MP; shout out to Eric at Madhaus Toys for hooking me up with that.
