I guess we will see...if they dont improve their online sales system and stock, they will have a rough go of it. I also see their baby dept is what is keeping them afloat, as in Canada there isnt great options with small boutique shops and lower quality Walmart stuff.

Hmm... interesting.
I think its too early to tell how this will go and it could go either way. On one hand the real estate will now be held by an expert in that area and the retail will be run by someone who specializes in that. That could be good.
However, it does sound a bit like the business side did not perform as well as Fairfax wanted and so they've now found a partner to revamp that. I can see the conversation within the Fairfax boardroom going something like this "Well running a toy store is harder than we thought and we didn't get the return we wanted so lets let this guy have go. If he succeeds we get to charge rent and if he fails we'll just sell the property".
So we'll see...

I mean, I'm sure it was a rough go for TRU during the pandemic when a lot of them were closed. Sure toy sales have been up, but if you're a retail store and you can't open up, that's bad.
