Velocitron Voyager Hot Rod First Look

TFW’s Jtprime17 has yet another piece of news for us this evening, that being the first look at the upcoming Velocitron Voyager Hot Rod! The photos he’s provided us with show off the figure’s packaging as well as his robot and vehicle modes along with his accessories. Hot Rod appears to be a redeco of the previous SS86 Voyager figure in slightly darker, more G1 toy-inspired colors. Check it out and let us know what you think on the boards!

They removed the paint from the head-crest and the shoulders, and the shins don't make up for it. The clear plastic disc is a bit of an improvement, since it better conveys the idea that the blade only looks like a disc because it's spinning, and I like the darker red plastic, but overall this seems like a step down from the SS86 version.

NICE that they just totally re-used the artwork from the Kingdom core-class HotRod, and just shopped out that ridiculous energon sword

but ya, I got SS86, no need to give a damn bout this

If only they had fixed that yellow thing on the roof, this would have been great.

Edit: Thanks to Evenstaves for posting the side by side. For me, the biggest difference in robot mode, is the collar colour and the flames on the chest. Considering it's a fake chest piece, they could have done it any which way, and didn't have to be the same design as the car. The red of the velocitron looks very nice.

After careful consideration and scrutiny, the choice is clear, I want the MP. And until I get the MP, the PotP Rodimus will do just fine.

I don't know how much they're charging for this, but somehow it seems worse than the original release.

He's darker red when maybe Hasbro should've gone for a pinker-tint to match up with the cartoon. Then again, maybe that's what they're saving up for in some future Buzzworthy Bumblebee release. I wouldn't put it past Hasbro to triple-dip this mold.

Agree. I like the more vibrant colours of SS86. I got enough G1 Hotrods already. You silver sharpie the forehead if so inclined. The paint in the shins echoing the labels on the G1 figure is interesting not enough to buy this.....unless you missed it first time out somehow.

Can't change that hinge, it's on the sprue of "unpaintable" nylon plastic with the fin.
