Not a fan of the plastic look of Downbeat, especially the unpainted swirly grey of the feet and shins.

Coolsville isn't perfect, but I much prefer the toy-inspired look.

Probably won't buy either as neither quite matches the MP aesthetic that I prefer.

Re: Make Toys Downbeat or Toyworld Coolsville?

Saw this over at TFW and thought I would share it here too.

Man, ToyWorld seems to be trying really hard to impose their own size scale between this and their coneheads, etc. Is there actually a niche section of the fandom requesting that upsize? I thought it was pretty well established that other Masterpiece sized figures would be relative to the standard that was set by MP-10.

Re: Make Toys Downbeat or Toyworld Coolsville?

So made my decision and grabbed downbeat.... I'm in the same boat as bonkers.. huge Jazz fan... so will end up grabbing them all. I already have GT j4zz and fell in love with it... and I have done the same with Downbeat... He looks plasticky but in hand has some surprisingly good weight... the face sculpts are spot on... and I love the option for doors or no doors.

There are some gripes:-
1) grappling hook is hard to put into hand
2) tabs on side leg panels don't seem to stay clipped in
3) rear windshield piece that spins on leg during extension constantly pops off
4) the well known chest/arms untab issue : I keep looking at this to see If there might be a fix... just haven't been able to figure it out yet...
