i find automotive clear works the best(just dont pound it on.)but if you dont have easy access to it,the second best (imo) would be "krylon fusion" clearcoat.it comes in gloss,semi-gloss and matte and it's usually about 7-8 bucks a can.(each can can do about 3-4 figures depending on the size of the bot and how many coats you use

my friend...."stay away" from those loonie store clears.more than half the time,they end up at a loonie store because they're already past their shelf life.it usually ends up instead of it being "clear",the spray comes out with a yellowy tint to it.that and because it's sat on the shelves so long,once it cures it will either crack or crumble right off of the fig you just sprayed it on.(i learned that the hard way cause i too tried "cheaping out"
lesson learned.)if it's just to stiffen balljoints,try some of your wifey's clear nail polish,just make sure it dries all the way through before you reassemble
