Re: Amazon.ca Transformers Sightings and discussion

Preordering on amazon.com with the shipping import taxes etc, comes out to $175 CAD, which is the same as buying on .ca and paying 13% Ont Tax ..... so probably cheaper for members in other provinces with lower taxes.

Assuming .ca even ships it to you <anger> coneheads </anger>

Re: Amazon.ca Transformers Sightings and discussion

Ah that's my bad. Normally when I order from .com the currency converter is enabled, I thought by it was $140 CAD. But alas, it's $140 USD and that's a little steep for me.

With the current exchange rate, it's roughly 14$ cheaper to order from .com (shipped to Quebec). I'll keep both preorders for now, and see how it goes. That canadian price is rough.

To save money, I'm tempted to place this order from amazon.com, and have it shipped to a US postal box; with fingers crossed that the border has re-opened (and stayed open) by then!

155$ tho…doesn’t 105 usd convert to 130cad? And there’s no guarantee we’ll even get these on release lol. Rodimus Primal on YouTube speculates that there will be a 2nd run around Christmas that might have wider distribution so might be better to wait til that time?
Price points are not dictated by currency exchange.

Re: Amazon.ca Transformers Sightings and discussion

I can safely say this JP collab is the only one to tempt me, as much as I figured they (all) were too esoteric/not my thing, but $155 CAD is a spicy meatball and I've already diverted fun money towards other things anyway.

If it sells out completely before a price drop to a "reasonable" amount, oh well.

Re: Amazon.ca Transformers Sightings and discussion

Amazon US preorders look to be sold out already, so having the set shipped to a US parcel pickup location is no longer an option...

And the canadian set being almost $175 after taxes isn't doing it any favours...

Re: Amazon.ca Transformers Sightings and discussion

$155 for the set off .ca?

Good god. I was figuring it might top out at $135-$140, maybe $150 if they got greedy. But $155 for a bundled Leader/Deluxe combo is... yikes. It almost feels like a test to see how firmly by the balls Hasbro has the collector market by gauging just how much of a "OMG Special collector's item!" premium they can stick on a figure/set and still get people into a frenzy over it.

Honestly I'd buy the jeep if it came individually (for less than $50), but the T-Rex doesn't do it for me. I have BW Megs to fill my organic T-Rex transformer niche and this versions' kinda blah headsculpt and unattractive bot color setup don't help sway me at all.

Re: Amazon.ca Transformers Sightings and discussion

Amazon US pre-orders for Jurassic Park set are back up.
Cheaper than Canada, especially if you can ship to a US location (and trust that borders will be open)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096GC12QX

I placed my order to a US parcel pickup location, with current exchange rates that put the cost of the order at $141.19 CAN. Still expensive, but over $30 cheaper than buying from amazon.ca
