Re: What's your 2 cents on a bootleg copy of TFTM07?
The sad fact that any artist has to realize is that almost any work of art can and will be pirated. The bootleg problem isn't something studio execs should be addressing. What they should concern themselves with is how to produce a product that an audience will be willing to spend money on.
In the case of the current movie, there are individuals such as myself who have seen it multiple times in the theatre. Watching it on the big screen is truly a unique experience. It's not something that can be duplicated watching it on a computer monitor as a compressed video file or as a dirty cam vid on a DVD. Given a choice, the majority of fans would rather shell more money on the genuine article.
When the DVD is eventually released there will be a whole slew of original material made specifically for that format. That's enough reason for me to continue to support this franchise.
Bootlegs are an unfortunate reality for the creators. But right now, it's the only solution for individuals who must own a copy. I personally don't believe these bootlegs will hurt the studios bottom line.
