Did the same thing to my RTS Roddy last year. Though not as cleanly as yours. Really interesting in that it looks like they had planned that into the figure, but changed it at the last minute.

I wanted to make the Botcon exclusive Shattered glass Galvatron more G1ish so I took off the rescue hook and added Battle for Cybertron Galvatrons cannon...added a peg and this was how I was displaying him.... unfortunately the cannon had to be under his arm which made him look odd when I had the arm flipped upside down to have him in a blasting pose. I gave him a new cartoon type cannon alt mode. I never like the helicopter alt mode.

With this new addition he looked better than before but I still wasn't fully satisfied...it was a good place holder until I came up with something better. here are some pics of my WIP G1ish Galvatron. 1st attempt.

I started a new arm cannon for Galvatron . I made it so it actually pegs on to the side of his arm unlike my placeholder attempt which was under his arm. I also added a peg at the back so he can hold the cannon with his right had in altmode.

Here are some pics with the new arm cannon attached in Robot mode with the new weapon and without those stupid helicopter tail wings....those sucked. you can remove them without harming the figure.

Here are pics of his new altmode...im still working out the design of the altmode but here is what I came up with. I still need to paint the weapon but that is gonna have to wait. I also found out that you can remove the helicopter tail without damaging the figure. looks sooooooo much better without the damn tail wings in botmode.
