Alerts just come too late, they're not really automatic.

I’ve found they are pretty close but you really need to read the thread while logged in to reset it so the system knows to send you another alert. Otherwise it won’t send you an alert until you are caught up on the thread again.

I can't even count the number of times per day that I read each thread, and click on the "latest post" icon to make sure it takes me to the end of each thread.
I know this isn't the right place for this comment, but this board is in serious need of updated tech.
