From people's experience, when you pre-order a figure from the website for instore pickup. Do you get an e-mail from gamestop.ca that it's shipped to the store/ready for pick up or do you get a call from the store itself that it's ready for pick up?

In my experience THEY ALWAYS FORGET TO CALL ME then I walk in and ask for it and they're oh, yeah, here you go.

And I've never had it happen myself, because I never preorder for in-store pickup, but sometimes they sell your preorder to someone else and you're just out of luck. Would not recommend, personally.

A lot of the times it?s neither, even if they make you put 5$ down through the site.

I've only done one pre-order for in-store pick-up so far, and they called me when it was ready to be picked up. I didn't get an email.

How did you know to go in and pick it up if they didn't call?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm a little nervous now haha. After fearing I'll miss out on a couple figures due to not pre-ordering I started pre-ordering all the figures I'm interested from Gamestop to get the discount and since I have one right by my place I thought it would be convenient. But now I'm worried the 5 I pre-ordered (including Snarl ) could be in jeopardy.

Any tips on knowing when to check with the store to see if they recieved it?

Check the sightings threads, when reports start coming in, check your store. The EB I preordered Breakdown from never called me to get it. When all the ofher stores got them in, for some eason they didn’t have it. Found one in another store, and haven’t bothered to go and cancel my preorder. I’m 100% sure they sold it to someone else.

It’s happened a lot to me, now I get it shipped. If some exclusive ever comes out and isn’t on the site, I’ll order it from another store, hell maybe from two different ones.

yeah like others have said, instore pickup doesn't actually have an option for email notification. I would say the chance of whether or not they call you depends on your own gamestop store, as the workers are the ones who call you. If you think the workers are competent and wouldn't sell your preorder by mistake then you shouldn't have any issue with instore pickup. For example, my gamestop employees are pretty great and I always receive a call for my preorders. I would still keep an eye on the release date on their website and check these threads to see if your figure has been showing up in stores. If so, then making a trip to your gamestop wouldn't hurt just to be extra careful.

Now, they charge you a $5 deposit per item when you choose the pick up in store option. If they sell your item to someone else, what happens to that deposit?
