Re: Soundwave, Music Label
I'm tempted to get it, but I think I might pass on it. The Prime ipod stereo is a different story though.

Is this from experience of word of mouth? I'm curious myself on how good/bad it sounds
Or are you referring to usability, that I would agree with.

I found a review on the internet. Apparently the battery life is only 6 hours, it only supports up to 1GB MiniSD cards, and (not sure if this is true, somebody please verify) it only accepts 128 kbps mp3s which is absolutely craptacular.

^ Can someone confirm this I just bought this and won't be very happy if this is true. I need at least 4 GB for all my classics!

Re: Soundwave, Music Label
Boy only 128kps would really suck
Too bad they didn't include external speakers in his legs, if they did I would load up the SD with TF theme songs, sfx and soundwave speaking lines from the show and movie... mmm, could be a interesting project to mod.

Re: Soundwave, Music Label
I don't see how it could only accept 128 kbps. It might be that it accepts MP3's and not AAC or OGG formats, but accepting only one bit rate doesn't make sense.
I want to get it, along with the Frenzy/Rumble earphones, but I don't see my self using it that much, just something that sits on my desk.

Re: Soundwave, Music Label
Here is the review where I found my information from:
http://www.tfans.com/talk/index.php?...r&f=26&t=72528
Specifications:
-Can only play MP3 files
-Can only use MiniSD Cards up to 1 GB
-Audio Range: 60Hz ~ 16Hz
-Bitrate: MP3: 128 kbps
-Output: 2mW
-Battery: Says something about a type 4 Alkali Battery, but the slot fits AAA Batteries.
-Assuming the use of the above-mentioned Alkali Battery, the player will supposedly play for 6 hours.
Man, the capacity, bitrate, output, and battery life are all terrible I wouldn't expect a cheap player to play other formats than mp3s as well.

Re: Soundwave, Music Label
As a MP3 player for daily use it sux (no UI, have to unscrew to take off the battery cover, 1GB MiniSD only, etc). I planned to hook it up to a cheap pair of PC speakers and play TF tunes in my "collection room" only, not as a real MP3 player. I will take my SE W810i or iPod 30GB instead, thank you.
However, if the Rumble + Frenzy headphone doesn't sound half bad I may use it. I may mod it to embed a better pair of IEM inside like the Sennheiser CX300, Shure E4C, etc.

Wonder how long it would last with a lithium ion AAA battery since they last longer then alkali. Will have to test that myself I guess. Too bad this bad boy doesn't all ready have a build in rechargable batt.
