Ouch. That's rough. I'm paranoid about this happening with almost everything I transform now. Thankfully I've only broken one thing in a non critical way (on PoTP RAzorclaw I snapped a small independent piece of his mane that sticks out on the bottom. I thought it was a tabbed-in bit that folded up onto his body for transformation. Nope, it's just attached on a pin for some reason. Thankfully it holds in place in Predaking mode and causes no issues.
