At some point a while ago, Hasbro mentioned that Soundwave, Jazz, and Rhinox were on the short list for Universe 3.0. I am assuming that we will actually get said Soundwave; it's entirely possible they won't do one for Universe 3.0. With Ravage in Universe 2.0, and what looks like a new Rumble/Frenzy mold in the works, I think a new Soundwave is likely to happen. Will it be better than ML Soundwave? That's the big question.
