MP-4 Leg transformation problems

I bought an MP-4 Prime at A3U a few months ago. I've only now gotten around to opening it and trying to transform him, and I've found that his legs won't telescope into themselves. I'm pressing on the chrome oil-tank thingamajig, but his legs aren't moving. Is this a common problem, or am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions?

I have the same problem with my us Prime. It is a struggle every time jamming on the buttons and the legs until they eventually go. I have to use a lot of force to get them in.

i have the same problem on my mp04 but not on any of my us/canadian versions.it may be a q/c issue with the takara version?but then my mp02 doesnt have that problem.

Tips I've found helpful:
Press down only at bottom of gas can
Do one leg at a time

Doesn't stop it from being the occasional bitch, though.
