Hasbro and Takara side by side Stunticon sets (very pic heavy)

25 Attachment(s)
Here are some side by side shots of the Stunticon sets from Hasbro and Takara.

Hasbro Figures are on the left and Takara figures are on the right.
(haha, some pics went sideways for some reason, haha)
The Takara set is made to be G1 cartoon accurate and Hasbro is toy accurate. There are a lot of subtle paint apps on the takara versions that don't get picked up by the camera very well like on Dragstrip in particular. Dragstrip has orangeish yellow highlights throughout the figure that don't get picked up, the hands, helmet and around the combiner port for example. I really prefer the cartoon accurate colours of the Takara set over the toy accurate Hasbro set. I cannot wait to pick up the head set upgrade from perfect effect to finish menasor off.

Is it just me, or does it look like the Hasbro ones have more paint apps?

This is one release where the Takara versions are not just straight-up better.
Hasbro getting better or Takara letting stuff slide?

Epic comparisons, did not realize there were that many differences between the sets.

I agree, I think Motormaster is the only Takara one worth having.

Edit, actually Takara Dead End looks good too.

It's all about choice. Hasbro is toy accurate paint apps while takara is cartoon accurate paint apps. There are a lot of paint apps that the camera didn't pick up for the takara figures, I had to use a lower quality photos to upload here. Wildrider is so very different and I prefer the colour pallet of the takara version. Once you get them in had you really see all the differences.

I prefer the Takara ones. I even got Hasbro Drag Strip thinking I'd prefer it but once I got the Takara set in hand I also prefer Drag Strip. I like the shade of yellow better and it actually DOES have some slightly orange paint apps to make it look slightly more broken up and layered.
