Re: Detailing ROTF Optimus
lol, nope. Don't mow much...
Thanks guys! I'm not stellar at staying in the lines ether, but not trying to shake helps.
I like sharpies, since their basically permanent on the figure. They cover quite nicely too.
I would like to update some of the gray on his lower chest to blue as well, but I need to find a decent paint to do it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Detailing ROTF Optimus
While on the subject, which clear coats are OK to use over sharpies? I remember a long time ago, I sprayed over sharpies and they bled...

Re: Detailing ROTF Optimus
That's a good question. My brother uses something on his customs, but I'm not sure if it's clear coat or not. I would like to seal this and not make the result sticky or bleed the color.

on the movie insecticons i did in 08,certain areas specifically "rub" points,i used black permanent markers then coated them with krylon satin clear.as long as you dont pound it on initially and just mist spray it first,it won't bleed on you.stay away from automotive grade clear though, the reducers in it totally bleed the permanent marker no matter how thick/thin you spray it(found that out the hard way )

Re: Detailing ROTF Optimus
awesome, thanks (sorry to derail also)
I just hit the area with tamiya clear (misted it) then laid my heavy duty lacquer clear coat, sharpie designs survived.

Re: Detailing ROTF Optimus
for a paint suggestion after reading a bunch of stuff i picked up some Testors Model masters and have been painting some transformers
So far i have done Sideswipe, and am about 90% done with Ironhide.
Im going to either start prime today (if he comes in the mail) or Sideways.
I got steel, silver, gold, semi gloss black, red and blue. The paints at the hobby shop were about $3.50 each, (YIKES!)
FYI: Micheals does not carry the Model Masters brand.
What tip sharpie are you guys using? I tried to look for some yesterday but they did not have any ultra fine silver, and they had no gold or copper (at michaels)
jon!

I was using my brothers' sharpies and he has just the normal tip. I was surprised to not see bronze or gold shapies anywhere! Luckily my brother has one bronze left.
