For anyone with a physics interest, the Standard Model of Physics appears to be wrong! According to the standard model there exists a particle known as the Higgs particle (sometimes called the God Particle) that is supposed to give all the other particles mass.
To date, the Higgs has been undiscovered. The LHC (Large Hadron Collider ) was expected to find the Higgs, though when it would do so was unknown.
However, in the last few weeks there was a major discovery at Fermi Labs

If this truly is the Technicolor Force, disproving the Higgs, this is the first time in decades experiment has gone against theory in Particle Physics.
And I couldn't be happier. The Higgs model is pretty darn gross! I don't like it at all! I actually have a particle physics exam today, and I'm looking forward to writing these results in showing experimental evidence against the Higgs (I would not be able to write ANY experimental evidence a month ago).
In the next few months they must confirm these results before they are taken seriously. However, if they CAN be confirmed, this is one of the biggest discoveries in physics in decades.
