Universe! need input

hey all, Recently I have been working on a display for my home office. My idea was to pick my 10 favorite / most memerable G1 era characters and get a fair sized scale mold of each with a more up to date alt mode. but ive run into a few snags...

1. the list- my original list is

Autobots
Optimus (Classics) have
Bumble bee (Classics) have
Grimlock Classics (Classics) have
Jazz
Skyfire (Classics) have
Omega Supreme

Decepticons
Megatron
Soundwave (Cybertron) have
a triple changer (either Blitzwing or Astro Train)
Starscream
Ramjet
Devastator (Universe Landfill repaint) have

UNICRON (armada colors)

But her in lies the issue..

the only Scale jazz mold that isnt silly expensive is the Movie G1 repain.. and I just hate it, and as much as I like the new animated one I just dont think it will mesh with the figures I already own, so As much as I love the character he is in serious jepordy

Second is Megatron.. With sound wave nolonger mass shifting (realy bugs me) G1 style megs seems realy out of place.. So now I need a suitable replacement.. I would love a tank.. but unless im mistaken Armada megs is a leader class fig..

if anyone knows a suitable replacement for jazz and megs or a place to get the respecive figs for cheap it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Cool Re: Universe! need input

Your plight is similar to a friend of mine that is trying to have "too scale" display of each character, he goes as far to use some other toys to represent OTHER characters like Botcon 2005 Virulent Clones as G1 Pretender Bugly and so on.

He had the same problem with Jazz and is hunting a cheap Botcon 2008 Mirrorverse one now. The movie ones won't cut it for him, neither will the original G1 toy. Also the action master, Spychanger repaint, pretender mini robot and any pvc are too small. Also the planned Legends Universe Jazz is also going to be too small...... hrrrmmmm..... so right now your stuck at the moment.

Get the Classics 2-pack with Prime vs. Megatron (Plus DVD) for your Megatron in green tank Megatron goodness in a nice size. (by the by Armada Megatron was an Ultra).

What no Hot Rod?

Re: Universe! need input

Thanks for the input. You said Armada megs is Ultra? how big is that?! Sorry im kinda new to this. If I cant get jazz in Hot rod and prowl are runner ups.. I just realy like jazz... To be honest Size is only part of the scale its alt mode as well.. Id use the Enegon megs if I could find the smaller version of the mold but im on a tightish budget and dont seem them around much.

Re: Universe! need input

One CAN use Alternator Jazz, but he is a little bulky. Also here is an idea of how big Megatron is. The Classics one is on par with the G2 Hero Megatron (Purple tank)

Don't know about the quality, but there's a 6" titanium megs I always thought looked pretty cool. The GI Joe one I think, not the WWI. It's a little like classics galvatron with a megs head sculpt. Or, the classics 2-pack megs looks really good painted silver, if you're up for a kitbash.
Actually, if you're comfortable going down that road, classics prowl into jazz might be pretty easy with a set of reprolabels.

Re: Universe! need input

Yeah I have titanium sound wave and it was a real let down... the rest of the line dosent look much better..

Retread- Id realy like to avoid kitbashes and such. Im a 40k gamer and one thing ive learned is a project never comes out as nice as it is in your head..

Protoman- Hmm would that be the deluxe or the other mold you speek of?

Out of curiosity what is the 2 pack energon Megatron worth? I realy am starting to warm up to the mold.

The Energon 2 pack on average runs about 20 to 30 bucks on ebay. The mold I was speaking of before "too avoid" is the Titanium Megatron GI Joe one. It looks GREAT in the box, but garbage when removed.
