Sunday
-Late night, late morning, scramble to pack everything up into Finish Line. Typical BotCon!
-Salvaged the morning in the dealer room. I bought the TF Risk game and enviously hung out at the kids' corner where Hasbro had donated TONS of toys!
2nd place 3-D winner was a large steel movie Frenzy. All weekend he was displayed in Robot mode and Sunday his kitbasher performed a live Transform
! Frenzy's sharp parts had previously cut his fingers, but this time he Transformed him sans injury.
After not formally meeting for years, I finally met Tony Bacala and bought 1 of his Transformers remix music CDs.
And kudos to TFcon 2005's BW/BM Trivia winner Lunatron for wearing not 1, but 2 costumes this weekend
! A cool fabric'd BW Dinobot (great teeth!) and a Barricade-hologram police woman.
Her Decepticon police emblem didn't say "To Punish and Enslave", but imrovingly said in Latin "Peace Through Tyranny" !!!
-Granolatron's wife discovered she had to pay 25$ for autographs, as she was a walk-in, so I got her the autographs myself for free. Not a selfless act by any means, as it allowed me to meet the actors for a 4th time.
Matrix, poor Bumper musta thought I was Urkel-stalking him! He don't need to know the truth.
-The Hasbro Designer's panel was very under-whelming. They didn't deliver some promised material and people walked out. Half-way through, they said "Thank you very much" and ended the panel!
-After the show ended, we ate at a local Indian restaurant. Pricey, but really good and too much food on our plates.
Luckily, we burned it off by swimming in the pool. We played the Marco Polo game with a TF twist, and chose a water-going Transformer. So we were playing,
"Sea!"
..."Spray!"
"Sea!"
..."Spray!"
Monday
-On our way home we ventured to 2 WalMarts and a Target where we picked up some Animated & exclusive movie toys, TF place mats, and american sugar cereals.
While I fine dined at Taco Bell, Proto & Guber had themselves an adventure at White Castle.
-We listened to Tony B's Transformers CD and it was great! Music inspired and/or stretched from the G1 show and movie, mixed with lines from the show. 1 song was even a TF-Jem mix!
Really impressive, I hope to buy the MP3 format from him if he comes to TFcon.
-Late night after 2 am was pretty cold, so I got to wear my Transformers gloves!
-We had left home for BotCon on Thursday 5:10 am, and I finally returned Tuesday morning 4:15. Great 5-day adventure, thanks to roommate Code of Honor for putting up with us, all the Cybertron.ca folks we hung out with, the many BotCon and TFcon pals there, my wife for calling me at appropriate time to not interrupt the key BotCon events, and my mates Guber & Protoman for an awesome time on our whole trip.
Conclusion
Awesome time as usual, but the con needs to up its line-up by getting a G1 voice actor next time. And the ridiculous No Video Taping rule really left a sour taste in my mouth. It didn't ruin the trip, and
the rest of the social stuff buoyed the fun trip, but you can't forget being shafted by the organizers, and for no real reason.
